Summer can't be over

Martagons don't bloom in September. Except for this one.

Beautiful pics, Brenda! Is this the first year for your foxglove?

That's incredible for a martagon in late September!...and that trumpet is a knockout as well. You certainly have lots in bloom in Manitoba..well done!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 2b)

Your Sea Treasure looks so like the Triumphator from Costco or wherever that is NOT Triumphator. Guess I'l have to break down and buy the real thing at the Manitoba bulb sale this weekend. So many wonderful lilies. Can't wait.

Last weekend I was digging lilies for the sale. Far off in the distance was a smidgen of pink. When I trekked over to it, it was a lonely Pink Pagoda. Looked so funny in the field. The last bloom of the year.

Won't even discuss your martagon bloom. Wonder what on earth happened. Any ideas? Can I cut it for the sale??

You have far far more colour in your garden than I have. Lovely pix.

Beautiful pics echoes. Isn't sea treasure a treasure to have in the garden. I just love it. I ordered my first martagon. I love yours. Thanks for sharing.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

lovely flowers. Isnt de Montarville gorgeous? Mine has just produced two new flowers in the last couple of weeks and has another dozen buds on it - probably never get to opening stage now.

carol

Thanks to you all for the nice comments.
Donna, I think I started those Foxgloves last year. I have some seed from them on my list I think.
The Sea Treasure looks like it's supposed to, I believe. Not like the Triumphator puzzle. I dug it up last night cause I thought it was going to freeze. I planted some of the lilies pretty late, so that is why I am getting such extended bloom. The martie was potted up and pouting till it got in the ground. Now it is thanking me. Ginny you can cut it for display if you like. Are you coming to get it? (I think it's pretty safe)

Lovely pics. I expecially like the color of the Hibiscus. Are they ALL blooming right now? Lots of color. Enjoy.

Ann

Thanks Ann, yes these are all from the past few days. The Hibiscus has been moved into the gh though, and the trumpet lily now too. So amazing that we haven't had frost yet.

I think this is Adriane Bloom

Echoes second picture - had some of those last year although i don't remember ordering them from anyone. What are they and are they perennial? I think I pulled them out at the end of the year cause they came with my glads and I didn't know what they were except pretty.

Lynne, I remember them as Acidanthera murieliae or Peacock Orchids, but they keep changing the names on this one. They aren't hardy for us, but you can dig them up and keep them over like glads. I find mine do better in clay pots, then I can move them in If it gets too cold.

Here are some more pictures from Brenda's garden. It's wonderful to see plants still blooming.
:) Donna

I need a better camera for taking close pictures but here is her martagon. It's soooo sweet!

I really like that Sedum with the Artemesia. How big are the flowers on the Clematis? Great pics echoes and PG.

Thanks sanannie. The Clematis flowers are about an inch long. I was really pleased that they are this blue.

Thanks Donna, it was a good afternoon, and thanks for the nice trades. The last pic you took was Corydalis Blackberry Wine.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 4a)

Yw. Thanks for my nice trade to. Here is a picture of my Clematis heraclaeifolia. The sun was setting so it do it justice like yours.

Ooh can't wait for mine to grow up and be big like yours. Hope you are saving seeds off it.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 4a)

I've never looked for seeds before. What do I look for?

Hmm. I got mine in an envelope. Will have to chack that out. Wonder if they make a fluffy ball thing too?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 4a)

I don't remember seeing anything like that but that could be because they bloom so late here that they don't get a chance to make seeds before the f word gets them.

You're probably right. I'll take a look at what's forming on mine tomorrow. I expect the strucure will be similar to other clematis seed.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

So when are you coming to do my yard Brenda????? :)

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Looks like I'll be waiting awhile then.

You come help me weed and finish dividing and transplanting and mulching everything here and then we'll go do yours.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Having second thoughts here..........your yards a *bit* bigger than mine. ;)

Does that mean you won't be coming anytime soon? Aw shucks.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

LOL........I think the date you posted above is the time we should be aiming for.
