Mutant?

Mississauga, ON(Zone 6a)

In the list of forums it states that if you're not sure where to post, then this is the place. So here goes.

I came across this white morning glory this a.m and I'm puzzled as to why it is there. The rest are Heavenly Blues. I traced the vine as far back as possible and it is connected to a blue plant (I think) lol. Anyway, it's the only one that has shown up after all this time.

Any thoughts?

Ahhh, Joan6aON .. I can't lend any true botanical explanation .. but ..

. . . even in the living worlds of wildlife and botany - there's jes always gotta be that one certain lil somebody or sumthin' .. that is direly intent on standin' out in the crowd !! .. lol ..

( .. merely luvinly teasin' ya a bit Joan .. )

You've certainly got me most curious also .. I'll jes hang around unseen, and see what the 'real' answers are ... hee

I have no answer but had to post in admiration of the Heavenly Blue and Heavenly White. They're lovely!!! ;)

BTW, Dave just opened up a new Morning Glory Forum, so perhaps one of those folks can help. http://davesgarden.com/forums/f/floramanana/

I sometimes get an odd flower from my Dahlias. They should all be solid red but 1 or 2 times per year I get this.
I think it has to do with a missing or irregular chromosome in the DNA strand.

That dahlia is really striking Andy.

I wonder if the breeders could put that crazy mixed up chromosome in there on purpose. hmmm
