New canna

Louisville, KY

This canna maybe one of the best I have breed so far. Though it's not extremly different it flowers constantly with the flowers held high above the foliage. The flowers are huge and bright neon pink. The foliage is dark purple maroon. One thing I really love is that it self sheds its flowers. This is one that I am really watching to sell to a larger grower.

Thanks for sharing, Neal.

Still looking for a name on this one. I am open to suggestions. Sarah my girlfriend gets to name most. She seems to have the final say on all them LOL.

The flowers seem to have a slight darker rim around the edge of the leaf. She was thinking of something with the word crest in it. But we are still working on it. I will have these forsale next spring. It maybe a bit expensive till I have a nice stock of them. But cannot sell anything till I have a name on it. That actually holds me up a lot on some.

Do you have to register a name for canna before selling? I asked Kyle and he didn't know.
Keep us posted on that one, you may sell out just with the DG fanatics here!

Key West, FL(Zone 11)

Amazing colors
I think im going to have a new color scheme. I know these are listed as tropical but do they need a dormant period. I had looked into bush lillies clivia miniata but they needed at least 3 weeks dormancy and we just dont get that here.

Every name I've come up with the past 5 minutes would probably earn me a rebuke (or worse) from Davey....

is it a dwarf or semidwarf? just curious. that is absolutely fabulous looking. I want in on the waiting list, pls

Knoxville, TN

WOW, awesome color on the foliage and flowers. I have had the worst 2 years with leaf rollers on my canna. I used dipel dust this year with very little control. I will have to use heavier artillery next year. Do you have any suggestions Brian? We are in similar zones. Do you have any problem controlling these nasty pests?

Austell, GA(Zone 7a)

Gorgeous colors!! You do good work.

It is a semi dwarf growing to about 4 ft maybe 5 ft at the end of summer. I have not had much problems at all with leaf rollers ever thank goodness. I have used seven dust or seven liquid spray. I spray the greenhouse regularly with Malathon. Jerry I think I showed you this one before you left. But its hard to remember with all that is here. Next visit I will be sure to point it out.

Why does he have to torture us with all these absolutely gorgeous cannas???? I have been watching the last few posts of Bwilliams and it breaks my heart that they are not yet available on the market. You are such a tease!!! But, keep up the stupendous work. Your flowers are really wonderful and you are blessed to have such a great touch with them.

Cheers! Ana

Torture, lol, Ana!
Which commandment is "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's cannas?" lol

Congratulations on this unbelievable beauty!!

I hope to have everyone you see availible as soon as possible. I just have to get a bit of stock built up before I can release them not to mention at least a name. I sometimes have a hard time figuring out which ones are worthy enough and which are not. Some people wait 3 years before they release them. I try to send out the best plants but I see flaws in some but still like them a whole lot and think they are worth selling at least to the collectors. Some plants might have such huge flowers that they dont open well or the ones that do not shed the flowers. These are things I look for in the best hybrids but in some I really dont care they are to unique to over look.

Very striking, Brian! Luv the color combination of the flower and leave! Please put me down on your list for seeds or tuber.

I like it even better in close-up.
And for the record I usually hate deep pink flowers.
I'm more for the pastels.
Like Buck I can think of a few unprintable names too.....
but for some reason 'Hot Pants' seems to keep coming back on the printable ones.

I was thinking that these 'Hot Pants' cannas would really look good in the bed where I have my Basjoo's and Tropicanna Phiason's ...

(Linda) Winfield, KS(Zone 6a)

Brian I do hope you are making a list. Because I definitely want on it. I don't even have any canna's but this one would be to die for. My DH loves the purple in leaves, I know he would like this one. No matter the price I would buy and tell him that I got it for him.

If you start the list, please add me. That is one of the most beautiful cannas I've ever seen.

Incredible colours, I'll be watching for it in the garden centres in years to come, and will remember that I saw it here first.
I'm sure you're onto a sure fire winner there, I don't know about you over the pond, but over here hot colours are coming in again, the zingier the better.

I've only just got into cannas in the last couple of yeras, and most that I have are just common garden ones grown from seeds, but most of all I love the leaves on them, especially the tall ,dark ones.I can remember visiting a gardens with a display at the back, and these things must have been 6-8ft tall, stunning, beautuful almost maroon leaves, literally glowing in the sunlight...drool...

This year for the first time I bought a couple of the dwarf ones to go in pots around the patio, but none have flowered yet, maybe it takes time.

That one will be worth waiting for, see you at Chelsea then?.....

Crossville, TN(Zone 6b)

I am also interested. The size is right for containers. I traded for 2 last year and just keep them on my porch for the winter. Linda

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Wow Brian, what a beauty! It just has incredible color and presense! Whatever you name it, I hope it has a name that is dominating, just like the plant~! Well done! (and yes.....I WANT ONE TOOOOOOOOO.....lol)

in Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Stunning Cannas Brian. It a must have for us cannas lovers.

petersburg, KY(Zone 6b)

how about "hot child in the city" for a name? I've been lurking, I always come over here to see whats going on. I got a taste of cannas and bannas this year. I will definately have more next year!!!
shelly

San Diego, CA

I'm not huge on cannas because they tend to take over, but I think that is one great looking plant. I wouldn't mind having those type take over if they look that spectacular. Love the color combo!
