Fall Plant Sale in Berkeley!!
Awww man, busy that whole weekend and really wanted to come and perhaps even meet you.
So you won't be able to go to the RU on Saturday 9/24 in Castro Valley either? What a bummer! Maybe we can make a point to meet for lunch at doss's.
Thanks for the info. Is there an early sale for members? Maybe I should join just for that.
You're welcome. Yes, there is an early sale for members, from 9-10am. You can come early and pay for your membership at the gate. We usually have quite a lineup for the member sale, so you might want to think about getting there a little extra early so you can pay for your membership before the gate opens.
Speaking of gates, we also have a beautiful new entrance which I think everyone will like a lot.
I will have to check it out if I can. I have been so wanting a Passiflora parritae since I saw one growing at the San Francisco Arboretum. And I see it on the list. I wonder how many they will have.
Oh man Kell, I have had that one on a wish list since you posted it. Even with the 4-5 year wait, this would be worth trying! Hope you get it!
If you want, I can check with Carlos on Tuesday about availability. Also, he might be willing to set one aside for you, at least for an hour or so, especially if you're a member. Let me know how I can help.
That would be just great of you to check. Do you work there? I have been busily looking up all the names on their sale list on google. I went to a sale years ago an dit was so busy. As I recall you really needed lots of hands. I may need to bring a cart. Do you recommend any kind? What do people usually bring? My only hitch is my son is coming home. I need to find out which day.
Sue, it is so pretty in person.
I volunteer at the Garden. I'm one of the propagators who plant up all those plants for you to buy! Carlos is the person in charge of the vines. You can bring a cart if you want, but we should have lots of little red wagons for you to use, as well as larger carts. But as you know, if we get really busy we could have all the carts in use when you get there. A wagon is probably the best to bring if you want to. Boxes would help too. We're always running low on them.
If your son is coming home Sunday, bring him along! He can pull the wagon for you! LOL
Marilyn
THANKS again Marilyn. If my kid comes home I am sure I could not drag him there. He takes after my DH, not me. LOL
You're very welcome. I've sent you and Sue Dmail re the details on the Passiflora you both wanted.
See you there!
We are lucky girls, Marilyn!!
Not lucky - just observant! Plus, as I always say, "You don't get what you don't ask for." You and Sue did both, so you get rewarded!!! :>)
Marilyn
Thanks Marilyn!!
You're welcome. See you next Sunday!
BUMP
I keep thinking of the mottled Lapageria rosea flower I didn't get. Carlos had so many for the sale tomorrow. I may have to get another. I bet there are so many more plants put out since Thursday for the sale. I just know I need to go there tomorrow. I am salivating Marilyn!!
I just remembered all the passionvines too. OH NO!!
This is the one that is calling to me.................... have you ever seen such a pretty flower? And it is wax like, thick walled. So different.
If you go, remember the begonia and the Passiflora membranacea for me PLEASSSSEEE!

I thought you had 2 on that list Sue.
I probably did but I am now downgrading to just that one passi, since there are other contenders now. Like 'Elizabeth' for one. I gotta show some restaint after all, right?! ....Naw!!
Boy, you are no fun!!
