Went to the early booking day at the company we buy greenhouse supplies from. We have until 5PM tomarrow to lock in prices as they are right now.
Because of the oil price rise, all plastics are going to go up on Sept. 15th. I talked with the owner of the company, he figured things would go up about 15%. He has to have his order in by the 15th, hence our deadline.
I would expect a major increase for plants at the retail level next spring.
Supplies + trucking + greenhouse fuel + our vehicle fuel costs = higher retail price.
This could all lead to consumors buying fewer plants, growers still going broke!
It will take smart shopping on the gardeners side.
Have a great day!
Bernie
Rising prices.
Sure am glad you were able to lock in your prices by going early, and thanks for the heads up.
