Is it bush Morning Glory?

Mesilla Park, NM

Yes, it also says Manroot, but I cannot find a photo of the plant/leaves to see if that is what I got here. lol. I guess I'll sow the rest of the seeds and see what happens.

Hmmm, it will be interesting to see how yours grow. I grew the pink bush & the white bush, neither seemed to know they were "bushes", they thought they were trees! I was constantly cutting them down, they kept curling under the eaves of the house & the ants were using them to get in the attic. I finally ripped them out a month ago. The flowers wer just not worth it. :~(

Antoinette,

Your last link didn't work.

Here are a couple of links showing the Leaves

Donna,
Your plants that you ripped out look like what I am growing and they ARE Trees.
Morning Glory Tree Ipomoea Carnea ssp. fistulosa 'Pale Pink'.
My plant last year grew to 16'. This year they are already over 12' and growing.
I do love mine, but have them planted in a group all by themselves.
Definitely not good under your eaves.
Here is photo of my blooms this year.

Emma -

How long does it take them to grow to 16'?

Nicole,
Can't tell you accurately, because the first time I planted seed, it was at the middle of a summer and at that time my plant grew to 8"-9" with no blooms. The next spring, I moved it to a better spot which is when it grew to 16'. I have a group of three planted this year, but they are from Cuttings from that plant.
Seeds are very easy to germinate.

Emma,

Thank you, those do look like the leaves here. I can hardly wait for it to grow. I may just plant the rest of the seeds to see if they will grow faster in a different location, could be they don't like containers.

i grew mine from seeds and its about 4 ft high after 2 years. they havent stopped bloomimg for me.

Gourd mine were in pots till this year( actually the other day).

i just gave it like a three gallon pot and it got fertilized once or twice a week with mgrow. depends on how much i fertiziled that week. seemed to like it.

heres mine if it helps you decide what you have. mine seem to want to tree form.

Gourd - the picture you posted is Ipomoea leptophylla...the Ipomoea carnea is a different species entirely...the links that Emma provided are accurately showing the plant that you started in your container...and I positively recognize the very young leaves...
THe Ipomoea carnea is a wonderful member of the Arborescens group of MG's and is certainly a great choice for another different species to grow...the Ipomoea carnea are very much beloved by hummingbirds as the quantity of nectar produced by Ipomoea carnea far exceeds most other species...
Have Fun...

The Ipomoea Carnea seedlings dried up on me this year.. may try again next year.

Thanks for all the info everyone.

I am starting seeds of I. leptophylla that I bought from Plants of the Southwest. The seeds are HUGE, 1/2" long and 1/4" wide, elliptical pointed like a bullet, and am pleased the seeds germinated after just a few days. It is very interesting watching them grow, each seed that woke up is sending forth not 1 but 2 seed roots. Never saw that before in another Ipomoea, but then again, I have not played with species outside of I. purpurea, I. tricolor and I. nil.

For those of you who have had success growing this leptophylla, could you tell me what sort of soil you had it planted in?

No success here, yet...just woke up the seeds.
