Importing from Plant Files to journal

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

I've been trying to use the "add this plant to journal" action and it doesn't seem to be working. It goes to a screen where it says "Importing a plant to your journal" but then nothing new shows up in my journal. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks!

Never mind--I was able to fix the problem by creating a new journal (before I was just using the default journal) and now I can import things just fine.

Why can't you import plant files into Default? On similar line, when importing pf into second journel, why does it put file into directory selected and also into unknown?

I can't answer the first part of the question, that's just been what I've observed in my own attempts to import things.

The reason why things go into the category you select and also into unknown is because unknown is a status, not a category. Each thing you put in your journal will have both a category and a status--for example, I might have a tulip under my category "Bulbs" with a status of "Planted in container". The import tool only lets you choose what category to put your plant in, but then you need to go to the entry and manually change the status. So if you import a tulip from PF, it'll ask you what category do you want and you can put in "Bulbs", but it will automatically mark it as unknown status until you go in to the entry and change it manually.

Hope that made sense!

Well, this feature isn't so helpful to me. I created a journal specifically so that I can import a plant and then move it into my default journal which is where I keep all my plants organized. It takes me less time to cut-n-paste the item so I guess I'll stick to that method.

Jen - who is still thrilled with this site!
