question on woodrose merrima
Mine didn't bloom last year and it hasn't bloomed this year either.
Hi,
Imzadi - How ols is your plant...did you buy it as a plant or did you start it from seed...When(!) did your plant put out the blooms that it did last summer...what size contaoner do you have it in...
Generally the Merremia tuberosa has to be at least two years old before it will bloom, but some perennials can take a few years longer before they feel like blooming...also remeber that this plant comes from geographic areas that are relatively tropical, and it may want to see a particular combination of environmental conditions that may be challenging to reproduce in a non-tropical environment...I do believe that this species is a definite serious exception to the MG's like poor soil 'myth' as the areas of the tropics that it is from are definitely very nitrogen rich(!)...I doubt that this plant would ever flower in nitrogen poor soil...
its over 2 years old. last summer i got a few the beginning of aug late july.
its in the ground. its in so so soil. gets neglected but has lush folige.
