Winter care for daisies

Malibu, CA

I am new to caring for my perennials so they will bloom again next summer. Does anyone have advice on how to care for daisies over the winter? Do I cut them back? I hear that soggy soil (clay) will do them during winter in so I planted them with other soil. Do I cut back the watering of them? How much? I hear that I can propagate them before next spring. Any advice on that?

Thanks,
Cora

Cora,

I'm no daisy expert, but I did notice that you weren't getting an answer. I trim mine down when they've finished flowering in the summer and then they usually rebloom. Over the winter you shouldn't have to worry about them. I cut them back in the spring. But I've changed almost all of them to hardy chrysanthemums because the daisy plants just don't have really long lives and the mums seem to live longer - and bloom more too. White mums give the same effect.

Thank you for your answer and suggestion. The daisies were gorgeous, but you're correct, I was surprised at the length of their bloom time. I may have to try mums.

Cora if you cut them as was suggested soon after the bloom they will bloom again for you. Al
