Prop. in high heat

Chapin, SC(Zone 7b)

Hi,

I'm in Florida where the heat index has been 105+ the past few days. I want to root some lantana, vines, etc. My question is whether the hot weather will be too stressful for the cuttings? The parents are doing great, but they're established. I have a little greenhouse that's vented I could put them in if they're OK outside.

I also have DL seeds to start. Should I start them inside, or will they be OK outside? They are the kind which would grow well here.

Would appreciate hearing from someone with experience on this.

Thanks,

Leslie

Leslie,

It's been a little warm here recently also. I started some lantana cuttings for my DD last weekend.. Just snipped them off and put them in a jar of water on the patio which is covered, so they don't get any direct sun, just a lot of light, and most already have roots. Told her to come put them, but I am fairly sure I will be the one to take care of that :) I am thinking we should keep them in pots until it cools off some. I don't know what DL means....sorry.

Hi Stownes,

Thanks for the info and encouragement. DL is daylily. I'm so used to being on that forum I forget it's not universal. Sorry.

No problem :) Don't know the first thing about that - just dig mine up every other spring and divide, but I don't have many.
