"The Food Network" Cooking Shows

I just KNOW this will be an interesting topic, since food preferences are always so contentious. But let's put our boxing gloves down & play nice - LOL!!!!!

Having been a Food Network viewer for a number of years, must say that I am NOT a fan AT ALL of their new venue, & don't watch even one third as much as I used to.

It was a lot of fun watching the old Julia Child "The French Cook" reruns, as well as the reruns of those fat & fabulous Brits "The Two Fat Ladies". Both of the above are now down the tubes as The Food Network as gotten a swelled head that it doesn't deserve.

As far as the new shows, I loved Sara Moulton, but apparently she too has been given the Food Network axe. Her show has been cancelled & won't be returning. (Her spot will probably be taken by yet another awful Emeril show.)

Is it really just me, or does it seem like Food Network is more interested in crass showmanship rather than real cooking??? I used to like Emeril & Mario Batali when they just had simple shows just cooking for the TV audience. Now it seems like every cooking show has to have an audience or cast of "friends" (friends, yeah, right) to cook to. How did this develop & why does Food Network think it's so great? Frankly, I think it stinks!!! The minute a show opens with "I'm here with my friends Moe, Larry, & Curly". . .. I want to visit the bathroom - lol.

I so wish they'd bring back the golden oldie style of cooking show. Am so sick & tired of ear-to-ear smiles of bright white teeth, orgasmic descriptions of one's own cooking, & chefs who put Barnum & Bailey to shame with their shenanigans.

So let's get to it - lol!!!!
