Very lovely and mesmerizing coloration, very much like the kaleidoscope screen saver I used to have on my dinosaur computer years ago.

LOL yup Emma they sure shimmer here too, but gosh, sometimes it's near impossible to get my camera to show that!

LOl Jospeh I remember those screen savers!

Nice balance(!) of color and streaking...

I agree Ron! They bloom up a storm here, usually being first to bloom other than the old fahioned ones I. purpurea.

It appears that the different names "Hanahubuki" and "Hanafubuki" are used by different companies and may also have similar, but slightly different meanings in Japanese...The different companies also seem to each have their own version of this...Takii calls theirs "Hanahubuki" on their packets,Sakata has a "Hama no Fubuki" and Yamato has a "Hanafubuki" that looks like the one that you are showing here...sometimes with the darker red along the primary folds being more pronounced and forming a more prominent star pattern...
I like them all(!)...

I just think the color is stunning!!! I know, it's so hard to get a definite "Name" when they are translated so many ways

Netcong, NJ(Zone 5b)

The best translations of these that I have gotten are "Cherry Petal Storm"..."Cherry Petal Blizzard" and for the Sakata "Blizzard on the Beach"..or "Storm on the Beach"....I know that the word 'hana' in Japanese simply refers to a 'flower',but enthusiasts in Japan who know asagao have told me that in this particular case this asagao name is referring to cherry petals...particularly when they are blowing off of the trees and creating a virtual "Blizzard of Cherry Blossum Petals"....both fubuki and hubuki refer to either a blizzard or a storm...so,there is my 'offerring' on those...

When it was offered to me, the description/translation was Hanahubuki "Petal Storm" way back when................

That's a beautiful one, wouldn't mind trading some of my japanese morning glory seeds for that one.
