I posted this in the Hydrangea fourm...but no answer as of yet. Can you help me? I just purchased two Lemon Wave Hydrangeas...and after I got them home found out that they may not do well in zone 5. Hoping I may be able to push the limits on this one. Do any of you grow this in zone 5, and if so...do you have to protect it? Any help would be appreciated.

Lemon Wave does have a rosy-mauvey(?) lacecap-type flower that is quite nice but in our zone,you may want to grow it for the variegated leaves, which are outstanding without blooms!
You could try to find it a microclimate,with wind and snow protection and cover it heavily in the winter for a greater chance of flowering next spring...dd

The leaves can tend to "burn" if in too exposed/sunny location. Mine is in full shade and the leaf colours have come out very nice. I tried it in several different locations but found some of the edges burned.
