Circle Pines, MN(Zone 4b)

Mine showed up today - thanks a bunch! Any special planting instructions?

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

Glad they arrived!! I would sow some now for winter sowing, and save some to try inside early spring or even after first frost directly outdoors. You can soak the seeds if you start indoors, sometimes helps, but I have found here just putting them in NOW before winter speeds up the germination in the spring, just barely scratch the surface and drop seeds - run your hand across the dirt to lightly cover and mark the spot for you to watch next spring :) That is how I do nearly all mine.

Franklin, WI(Zone 5a)

Laurrie:

This is mine. Do you think its the same one, or one that goes by a different name?

I'll post a photo of the entire plant next. It's hard to see because it blends in with all the other green in the garden.

Here's the entire plant if you can make it out! It reseeded from last year along with a million others. The cabbages underneath are full sized to kind of give you an idea as to the size of this beast! We've been in an extreme drought and I only watered the garden twice all summer long. These things are tough!

Sandy,. yes plants look the same, however mine only have 5 little purple strips inside the bloom, not the large amounts of color like yours do inside, I used to have blooms just like yours! I had some that were all white, some like mine (first photo) and some like yours, but only ones that came back this year were the ones I have pic of up there, think most things washed away during the flood :(

I do think it's the same as mine called Datura tatula (old name) they now call them datura stramonium.

Bartlesville, OK(Zone 6a)

Hi! I will send the envelope on Tuesday. Thanks for reopening!

Greg

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

Hi Greg, yes still have some available, just get the sase in the mail to me and I will fill it up.

CREZIERES, France(Zone 8a)

It is a lovely plant, but I hope everyone knows how poisonous it is... just about as deadly as plants get...

Kitchener, ON(Zone 5b)

SASE is in the mail

Greg

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

Yes they are poisonous, but so are tulips, daffodils, castor bean, hyacinth bean, etc. We grow them and are cautious of course :)

Greg, will fill and get back asap when it arrives :)

Chickamauga, GA(Zone 7a)

I would love some of these! Do you think they would be a perennial in North Georgia?

I am new to all of this tradeing and SASE stuff so tell me how I know where to send this envelope to.

Also about them being poisonous, what kind of cautions need to be taken with them? I have kids and a dog if I watch them around the plants should they be fine? Does it have to be ingested? I keep Lantana around my yard too and it is very poisonous.

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

I haven't a clue on perennial in North Georgia, perhaps someone from that area would be of more help :(

will send you dmail with info on where to send.
I just need a normal little envelope with your address already on it, and 2 - 37 cent stamps on it, I have bubble baggies I use to mail the seeds back to you.

All parts of this plant are poisonous, trust me, my dog chewed a plant as well as the seed pods, shredded them and he died within 2 hours, we had tied him to go to the greenhouse, came back and went to untie him and that was the end of that, very quickly, wasn't here to see exactly what happened, but put 2 and 2 together with my plants tore up and seedpods with chew marks and a dead dog laying beside all this, I just know it had to be those plants, he was rather a healthy dog too, just was mad because we tied him when we left :( So YES much caution if you have pets that CHEW or children who like to grab and nibble on things!!!!

I have grown these for over 10 years and this is a first for me, trust me my children have been told from very beginning that they are poisonous, I told them not to even touch it and rub their face because some people break out just from that, I don't and never had a problem at all until the dog issue, but it definitely worries me if folks have pets that like to chew.

I know there are alot of popular plants that are Poison, so just use caution is all I can say.
