My Beautiful Brugs

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Ackkk..........you just had to mention that!

Love your MM Delisa, I too noticed the color goes all the way up. Very nice!

What ever you do Blaine, don't tell your wife that! LOL

Looks like all is well in Florida! Great photos of a beautiful Brug Delisa.

It is quite nice Kell...so,..... gosh...I thank you, too!
He did mention that the cuttings originally came from you, I had just forgotten...sorry!

Yes, Blaine definitely has 'the knack' with Brugs, I'd say....hope I can do it justice in the future.

Delisa...I wasn't implying that you 'doctored' the photo, (lol!) just that sometimes our monitors play tricks on us, and that's just such a *beautiful* deep pink that I'm not accustomed to seeing on a Brug!
It's really gorgeous!

Blaine...if I'd have known you didn't have Whiskers, you would have taken a cutting home! Let me know if you'd like one. My cutting received from 'earthling' last fall has grown nicely and branched quite a bit from the base, and...the spider mites have pretty much left it alone!

Thanks Nan but I really have to be careful of how many I finally decide to take in the basement. As I found out last winter, I can be dealing with 3-4' pigs by March when I can go to the Hoop House but then we've got till 1 Jun before they safely go outside. Maybe we'll do a hot swap next spring. :)

Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

MM is my favorite American pink brugmansia. I just love it the color and the flushes.

I can see why MM is your favorite. The color is so rich.

Just when you think you've got enough pink brugs .... you spot another one that grabs you!

Hi Taja
I just read up on the Maxicrop and am fixing to try seeing about getting some. Looks like it's the ticket to getting some great growth and lush color, and everything a brug would dream of having. I'm posting the link so you can read up on it too. As for the leaves, they do that from time to time. If you can take a sample of your soil to an Agriculture office so they can test it, you can see if you have any deficiencies in it & they can tell you what your soil needs. :-)

Hope this helps. Oh, and mine are yellowing now too btw...I'm not worried because they just grow more :-)

Loved seeing all the great brug photos. i have nothing to contribute in the way of blooms. It has been very hot and dry and windy. Have no blooms right now. Earwigs have been awful, so the foliage is all holy and raggedy. Yesterday did cool down some, 78 degrees, and this morning 45, so maybe my brugs will start to bloom again. Thanks to all of you for the nice bloom photos. DonnaS

Julie, I don't use it religiously, but Maxicrop does not prevent yellow leaves here. I think I mentioned this on another thread and I might have been the only one that didn't think it was super. I'll give it another try and maybe it will do the trick this time - I'll look forward to hearing what you and others think about it. I bought it because the brugs LOVE the seaweed extract in the Saver Insecticide Soap and Seaweed Extract. I'd give anything if I could get that seaweed extract without the insecticide soap, but I've searched and searched and have not been able to locate it. If anyone knows where I might find it, please advise.

Sherry, is the Seaweed Extract the same as Kelp?

Brinda, I do not know if Seaweed Extract is the same as Kelp. I think I have some stuff with kelp in it and I'll check. If I do, the kelp didn't make the difference that the Seaweed Extract in the Safer product makes, for me. I've been actively looking for seaweed extract for 21 months and have never found anything that is pure seaweed extract, and, except for the Safer product, nothing I've found does as good as the Safer, and I do NOT want the insecticidal soap added. I've asked Safer, but they send canned messages and some direct me back to the insecticidal soap/seaweed extract. I hope, if anyone finds it that you will let me know...

I don't know either Sherry. I've been looking at this product from GardensAlive thinking of getting it. This is what is written to make me think it is the same as Seaweed Extract.

"Kelp, a seaweed, is packed with nutrients that help plants attain maximum vigor. "

I think I'm going to give it a try next year.

I'm glad I read this today Brinda!! Since I have to go out this afternoon, I've stayed inside, surfing around the net. Guess what? I found Seaweed Extract and ordered some from this site:

And, they take paypal and I've ordered from there several times. I just do not believe they have had this in the past and I'm so glad to find it, and, most of all, HOPE it will be what I expect...

That's great Sherry! You'll have to let me know how you like it.
