My Beautiful Brugs

Hull,Ga, GA(Zone 8a)

Hi Everyone! I'm new to Dave's Garden, but have been reading all about Brugs from all of you experts!
Right now I have 6 Brugs in my garden and one Datura.
Wondering if you could give me some advice...my Brugs are full of blooms, but the leaves are turning yellow, some are being eaten up, holes in them. I use MG liquid, epson s monthly and water daily.
Would sure appreciate help...

Food Deficiencies

Nitrogen Overall yellow with no green veins

Magnesium Yellow between veins, looks somewhat like iron deficiency

Boron New leaves are smaller, edges curl and are thicker

Potassium Browning of older leaves, edges dying, leaf crinkling and splotching

Manganese Mottling of new leaves with checkering between veins

Iron Yellowing of all but the veins

Sulfur Lack of pigment in all parts of new leaves

(I was looking for a place to post this info!!!)

Haha, we don't do snow here, Blaine, once in a blue moon but we snow ski and you are surely dressed for a run. I love the snow falling in the photo...I love the way falling snow sounds, to listen to and hear the crispness of snow falling silently. We do have ice storms and they are really a mess, whew!!!

More pics... any and all, new and old... (I'm heading home now and will toss anoher card in the hat)

That's Peaches and Cream Margo.

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

lol, I'm such a ditz. Sherry, when I first read you question, I read it as "staring". I went back & forth from the pic to your question twice (thinking you saw someone peeking in through the bushes) before I caught it. I fully admit, I am a completely natural blond.

That's Mountain Magic. She's a great brug. Very good performer and she gets dark, dark, dark! She is one of the few that will actually bloom for me in the height of our summer (most brugs either won't bloom at all or will just drop buds until it cools off).

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

She is truly a beauty Carter, and staying power is what counts in our heat/humidity!! I misread stuff frequently, I read too fast, which used to be an advantage, but my vision is a little behind these days, lol!! MM is very pretty, I just love her...

8ft. that Butterfly is beautiful, I have 2 but not ready to Bloom yet.

What has Boron in it. That must be what one of my Brugs need, out of all the brugs I have 1 is showing the leaves, and buds curling, and shrinking.

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Maybe Borax or MicroMix, Doris?? That's a guess...

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

Wow...(these are all beautiful!) but..Carter and 8ft....are Mountain Magic and Butterfly really *that* dark of a pink?

Here's a Monday AM photo of "Maya courtesy of 8ft".

Delisa, she is lovely, I have three growing, not Yd yet so I have to wait awhile.

Wow Nan, she bloomed for you inspite of me. :) For the 4 hour 70mph windstorm she went through, that has to say alot for Maya.

So far my Butterfly has been like that. I'm waiting for some more to bloom soon.

I put this in another thread but since this is an unclaimed post 'em if you got'em thread... I finally got a semi-decent shot of one of my Posse!

(and don't you ladies swoon and start sending emails over those biceps. He's on the clock and got bugs to eat)

WOW Blaine, I would say you did. Amazing. I may get some of those next year!!

Carter and Margo, I think that is Big Yella. Sometimes she gets so orange I am in love!!

Blaine, I have a feeling your poor wife must toss you outside a lot, even in winter. LOL

Delisa, your MM is just so well uh PINK!!! LOL! Pink is good!! I have only gotten 1 bloom on mine so far that was not so pink but I am sure hoping she will turn that pink here too.

Bettydee, what pretty yellow is that? It is such a true yellow.

Tajataja, I see you came back and reposted on your first post. I can't tell if anyone answered you. It is normal for the brugs to get some yellow leaves. They constantly renew their leaves. And even if they all fall off, they can refoliate quite fast. Very neat how they do it so fast. Also if you let them dry out at all, they usually drop lots of leaves in the next few days.

I have some holes in mine also. Cucumber beetles seem to love to make them. Snails, slugs and caterpillars like to eat them too. I think other beetles also do but I do not have them here. Thank goodness!!

Also I wonder if they are potted, if they can only support so much canopy so they save the flowers at the expense of the leaves. I have noticed this in pots that are some what root bound.

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

lol! In spite of you...poo, poo.....she bloomed *because of you* silly guy!

Wow..those are gorgeous, Delisa...so that dark pink is, indeed, a true color?!

Hey, I had one of those green guys on a Cactus outside the other day...never even crossed my mind to take a photo!

I'd say maybe you brought him, Blaine...but he was here before you!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I bet she will do great for you, Nan. It is a thrill to see my Maya spread all over Davesdom!! The mother plant is so healthy and aggressive. I just took a bunch of cuttings from her the other day, she loves to sucker from the base.

I am surprised how big her canopy is on the one Blaine gave you, Nan. It looks like she has skinny trunks but that a huge canopy. That credit is due to Blaine and his special ways of fertilizing I think. His plants are amazing. I keep forgetting to buy some Bud for mine.

Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Nan what do you mean by "a true color"?

Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Here is one more.

Thumbnail by Delisa
La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

Kell,
It's called Citrine. The all of the first blooms were shredded. I got very excited thinking I had something unusual. Remember when I posted a photo you mentioned that it may not last and sure enough it didn't. These have their pluses. Each flower lasts about 5 days.

Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

My MM is a cutting off of Carters and yes this is the true color if you meant did I change the color of the photo.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Gosh I didn't think she meant that in that way Delisa. Sometimes monitor's, mine especially....doesn't show the 'true color' :-)

She's pretty Delisa. Nice to see you posting.

Julie

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

I've caught the Pink Brug bug. Delisa your MM is beautiful. If you ever prune yours, please may I beg for a cutting?

Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Julie it wouldnt be the first time someone was accused of coloring the photo of MM. I didnt think I sounded that rough Julie that you needed to take up for Nan.

:-) I do remember that as well, I had forgotten about that until you mention it...thanks for reminding me lol, I'm sure you meant no harm. Your MM is nice, I hope mine will be just as pretty and colorful as well!

Cindy, it's so nice to see you, hope you're feeling ok from today's visit to the doctor. Your Whisker's is beautiful! ((((Cindy))))

MM is truly a beauty. I love the shape and the color and the way the color goes up the corolla tube.

Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

ooooo, people talk about Whiskers all the time. Now I see why!

I did buy some praying mantis egg cases this year. I love this insect but had never seen them around here so I finally tried an experiment. Betcha bottom dollar it'll be an annual ritual now. They are just too cool. Except I think the male is lunch after consumating nuptials.
