Rosamond and Dr. Seuss blooming side by side
Finally a few blooming
BEAUTIFUL!!!
Judy
Go Texas!! Looks like something else is fixing to flush to the left of Kyle's Pink. Who's that?
Great pics, Sylvia.
Looks like you have a jungle there, Sylvia. How great. And what is that huge tree to the left with the pink flowers in the first pic?
Don't you love that name Island Girl? Brings up all sorts of images.
I love your display!! Your blooms are wonderful.
I'm smiling ear to ear!
Kell, that is Althea Aphrodite.
8ft. the brug about to flush is Miss Anna.
I also have a large brug in another bed that is covered with blooms about to open, but have no idea what it is. I also have 2 Shirley's Peach brugs blooming, but it has been raining all morning, so haven't been able to get out to take a picture. I'm so excited.
Here's a closeup of Rosamond's bloom. Pink, pink, pink. lol
Don't you just love all the snail holes in the picture. lol
I was so mad yesterday when I took these pictures, because I discovered that my Pink Ice had a bloom on it that had completely gone unnoticed. Of course, it was all closed up and about to fall off. Bah Humbug!
They look wonderful..... I'm still waiting for my first brug bloom......
I'm excited that they are blooming, because they have only been fertilized once this year. They are in dire need of fertilizer, epsom salts and a little tlc.
Your Rosamondis so pretty Sylvia.
So it is a Hibiscus syriacus, I thought it might be. We have some varieties here but I haven't seen any that big. It is just great. I just bought a standard one last month but I can't remember which one. It is a dark double pink I think with a darker eye. I will have to go look. It has had a lot of aphids.
Such a pretty sight!
Your soil must be very rich and fertile.
Kell, I've planted several different varieties of the altheas in the past, but I've never had one grow that tall before. I have a white Diana that is only about 4 ft., and a Blue Bird that never gets over about 3 or 4 ft. I had a beautiful Diana planted in the front yard that had gotten to be about 6 ft., but had it dug up and moved this Spring. I think they must have cut off too many roots or something, because it just sat there and only put out a few leaves along the branches. About 2 weeks ago it gave up the ghost and died. I had it dug up and planted a pale pink crape myrtle in its place last Friday.
Pollygardening, as to the soil, it was supposed to be a sterile soil with compost and manure added. No weeds they said. Boy was that a joke.
Minnie, when Miss Anna opens, can you post a pic for me?? I have one and it's just alittle tiny things still and wanna see what she'll look like. :-)
Hugs
Julie
Your flowers are beautiful!!!!
Julie, I sure will. This is her 2nd flush this year, and it is a pretty flower. Thanks for the compliment. I really need to do something though, because a lot of the leaves are turning yellow on nearly all my brugs.
Do you know who the parents of Miss Anna are? I'll go look but it takes me a while lol...Thanks so much Minnie :-)
All your Brugs are blooming so well! Great job!!
Your picture is prettier, because you have those beautiful phlox (at least I think they are phlox blooming beside Rosamond. I need to plant some phlox also.
Very Pretty Minigrannie
Minigrannie,
At least we have ONE thing in common! The chewed up leaves....
Looks like the same critter done it!
Yes, those are Phlox. This is actually the second flush of bloom on it, as I am good at cutting off the spent flowertips in due time.
My Rosamond was a measly cutting from Brugie last fall. She also sent me a "Species" and a "Forevermorr". Those have not bloomed yet! I have a Dr. Seuss from last year--now approaching 9' tall! Mamma Mia! I also have a Rose Souvelons from last year. She has bloomed non-stop--a few at a time. Also pink! If the other two are also pink, I will really be "pinked out"!!! :-)))
"Forevermorr" will open tomorrow! She has 2 buds. It is so hot here--today heat index over 100! I am sure it is even hotter where you are. This year is just miserable. What's happening to us?????
Gita
Here's a pic. of the "Rose Souvelons":
Minnie, Ms. Anna is beautiful, but then all of them are. But she's definetely beautiful, I especially liked the Rosamond too! Shirley's Peach is Gorgeous!!! Thanks for the walk in your garden, it was lovely :-) Hugs I hope I can acquire Shirley's Forevermorr one day...she sent me a cutting of the Peach but that was before I acquired the bubbler, I think that's the way to go and woudn't do it any different now. I have to see those beautiful healthy white roots before I stick them in dirt now....Thanks to whoever came up with this cos' it's a great thing IMO :-))))
Gitagal, Your Rosamond is beautiful too! Gosh, Both of you guys have some great brugs!! They must LOVE where they live and where they're at!
Have a wonderful weekend all of you :-)
Julie
Oh they are all so beautiful Sylvia! You sure do have a garden filled with beauties. Your sunny delight canna is one I have never seen before. What a delight to see it in bloom.
I also love the shot of your brug with the pink caladium. My caladium are not doing well at all this year. Glad I can see your healthy ones.
Thanks for sharing.
Kin
Thanks everybody, but there are so many gardens here that put mine to shame, and Kin yours is at the top of the list.
Gita, I love your Rose Suavelons. Let's call our brugs swiss cheese angels. lol Isn't Shirley the greatest. She sent me ForeverMorr also, but I lost the nametag and don't know where she is. I'm so careless with the nametags falling out of the pots, and then I don't know where they came from. Bad girl, bad, bad girl. Oh well, I have a lot of unknowns. lol
Sylvia,
Don't know if this will help you locate your "ForeverMorr" in your Garden or not, but mine grew straight as a broomstick--up and up. Very few suckers. Very strong!
One of the 2 buds is opening today. So far it looks like yellow with pink, but then you never know what they will look like when they are fully open. By tomorrow I will have a picture to post! AHHHH----Sweet Mystery.......
I love your caption of "Swiss Cheese Angels".. So be it! "Angels" they are--"Angel Trumpets". And, we are all fortunate to have another "Angel" among us who is kind and generous and most helpful. Her name is Shirley (aka Brugie). xoxox
Till tomorrow........................Gita
That's for sure. I love Shirley. She is so kind and generous to everyone. She hasn't been feeling real well this Summer, and sure hope she is feeling much better.
