That is a fabulous plant! Even if it never blooms, it is still a treasure!

Its so beautiful Maria. Thanks again for the cutting of this and the others you sent. All are happily growing little roots for me.

I think someone is planning to put one up for bid on Ebay (not me:-)). So watch out!!

Lovely!

I'm just curious, and if this question has been asked before, I apologize, but where did you obtain yours,
Maria?

Las Vegas, NV

Susan, you were right, did you see what was being offered on eBay? Rick, are we going to see you dance? Hoyanut

Hoyanut.................I got myself one and it was worth an all night rave. The leaves are amazing........pictures don't do it justice.

Today I found a big 'Lisa' and it was quite cheap too. I have a cutting of this one before, but I've looked for a bigger plant for so long and now that I had given up hope - there it was! :-)

Wow, that is gorgeous! How often do you water your hoyas? Also wondering how? Do you let the run off water sit in the bottom of your pots to provide humidity for your plants? Sorry about the 3rd degree Christina!!
Heather

Trelleborg, Sweden

That's okay, Heather, I don't mind answering questions. Especially not when they are about hoyas!

I don't water my hoyas according to a schedule. When the weather is sunny and warm I try to water them every 3-4 days, but when it's cloudy and/or colder but we don't have the heat on it's more down to once a week. Then when the heat is on in the winter I'm back to every 3-4 days since I have radiators underneath the window benches. The radiators give the hoyas warmth from underneath and I think that's good for the roots during the winter. They get the cool from the windows and the warmth from underneath. I also hang humidifiers on the radiators and keep them filled with water during the winter to at least try to keep the humidity a little higher.

I might also add that I don't water a lot when I water, but I try to see to that some water runs out into the small leca I keep in the planter. Then I know it's "enough". These leca in between the pot and the planter helps me prevent them from standing in water. Does this make sence at all? It's not that easy to explain in a foreign language...

Christina, that makes perfect sense! I have already learned so much from you! I especially like how you have the detailed pictures on your web site about rooting hoyas! What do you mean by hanging humidifiers on the radiators? I have a 2 gallon humidifier that I use in one room, do you think this sounds okay? I also keep pebbles under most of my hoyas, for overflow. Also wondering if you do anything to keep the air from standing still? I just got a bunch of mini fans, it makes it a little cold and loud in our house. Do you use anything like that? Thanks again!

Okay, here's a photo showing one of our radiators with waterfilled humidifiers hanging on it. In the corner you see one of them in details.

About the air movement... We have ceeling fans in both rooms upstairs and in our dining area. In the living room we have a small, but powerful table fan in a corner that I "use" a little now and then during the winter (mostly). We also have these long ventilation "thing" in some windows and those are open almost year round.

I also seem to get some help with air movement from my dog and my new little kitten. They have so much fun together and chase each other so the air never gets a chance to stay in one place!

O.K. now thats a beauty. I agree, it doesn't even have to bloom, to be a beauty, the leaves are stunning. I'm going straight to ebay to check things out.

Well I had to come in and check this one out again. I'm going to short out my laptop from all the drool. The leaves are just so stunning. Geesh I dashed to ebay to see if there was one for sale, not realizing that the above post were from Aug. 19th. Bummer... Oh well.

Los Angeles, CA(Zone 9a)

Thanks Christina, your set up is amazing! I'm definitely taking notes!!

Oops ~ sorry! I should have read a little more thoroughly...
what's on eBay is just Hoya Australis! Didn't mean to cause a panic. =0)

Sunset Beach, NC(Zone 8a)

Lisa sure is a pretty girl! I'm new to hoyas so I'm just inching my way. I bought an australis yesterday at HD and I know it's just the "regular" more available kind as it doesn't have those beautiful leaves like Lisa.....just plain green. So what kind of hoya would that be? Will it bloom (someday. LOL) and what color can I hope for?
Barbara

Trelleborg, Sweden

The regular australis is a really good bloomer - at least it has been / still is for me. It's a fall bloomer, it blooms when the days get shorter. Yesterday I counted 32 umbels on the way in one of my australis. It's a strong fragrant one too. You'll like it!

Christina:
OH MY GOSH! I have never seen a hoya with that many blooms before (not that I've seen lots of them anyways~ LOL)! But that is STUNNING!
Gee, and I'm all excited cuz I have 3 umbles on one of mine. (sheepish grin)
I'm curious....what's the difference between just "plain ol' australis and Hoya Australis Lisa?
(yes, I'm new to hoyas and don't know much at all but am trying to learn)
THANKS!

Wow! That's gorgeous! I may have to move to Sweden just for hoyas.:-)

Dennisport, MA(Zone 5a)

In my mind ... I think you need not to travel to Sweeden!! Aloha has the greatest hoyas on the planet.

Bergeforsen, Sweden

WOW, Maria!

Christina, I am just amazed at the number of blooms on one plant. What wonderful things are you doing to make them bloom so much? That is sure a winning photo with all those beautiful flowers and to think there are more flowers to come. Wow! Fantastic! Deb
