I gave out a few of these cuttings at the Florala roundup this past spring for additional trialling before release, but lost track of who I gave them to!
But since she just bloomed great in the north (Pa) with all her pink and orangy tones intact, she is officially released for trade etc. She grows quickly and lush, with a nice fragrance, wonderfully ruffled skirt, blooming a med.pink in day and night high heat , but with dark pink and orange tones with cooler night temps.
A "simple" Seuss x Butterfly cross, she has the hardy wild form genes of Seuss (Hetty Kraus) Rothkirch and Ocre behind her, so anything is possible using her as pod or pollen parent, with so much great unknown genetic material to throw back to.
If you have one from the Florala swap, feel free to share her now ;)
I've given or will be giving her to several people with reputable online nurseries too, so she may be available there by this fall, if all goes well.
This one is very special to me for several reasons, and there are strong emotions tied up with this release that I won't go into here. But I hope many of you will enjoy Bonnie Jean as I did, and do.
Bonnie Jean Released
Thats a beautiful flower. Congratulations.
Also nice to know whats possible since my first feeble attempt at a cross has ButterflyxDr.S
Here are three Rothkirch/Ocre decendants in the afternoon heat; Pink Beauty, Bonnie Jean (center) and Butterfly. Bonnie shows more of Ocre's influence than the other two, with the orange tones. I still don't know which side the ruffles come from?
Paul, if you see this thread, would you add your recent pics?
It's beautiful Kristi!
You can certainly see Rothkirch blood in this one. Congratulations!
She looks so very pink. Did you know I love the pink ones? LOL
I'd say nearly anything, with all the 'wild' genes behind them. This is also a Dr.S x Butterfly seedling, different pod. Not at all the same!
That's solid gold in between for color reference; still orange/pink tones, but the mix/pattern/shape is very different from Bonnie or the parents. Lots of neat unknown genes and possibilities!
Really kell? Lol!!!!
Congrats !! Beautiful shape and color....very, very nice . I love pink also.

I have Butterfly x Dr Seuss seedlings upstairs about 2 months old. I sent out seeds, but don't remember to whom (I'll have to look up my records.) I hope something as lovely comes from one of them.
If there's a cutting of Bonnie Jean available, I would love to try it in SC.
Really lovely....Congratulations!!!!
Linday, you sent me seeds....and one has sprung forth... not giving up, tho'.
Carol
That's right, I remember now. I had to ask the PO man if Hawaii was airmail (he laughed at me). How long have they been planted? Seems like mine took a while before they came up, and as well as I remember I didn't have many seeds. You probably only had 4-6 to start. Good luck.
Yeah, Kristi!!
:) Donna

I do wish paul would put his pics up, they were really good ones! I'll try to track him down; I think y'all would enjoy them.
Kristi - I heard "somewhere" that Paul is having phone trouble - his lines are crossing with other people and he can't get online. Hopefully it is fixed today.

Gosh, i wish i would have been one of the lucky ones to get that at the swap. Bonnie Jean is gorgeous!!
Thanks Jen. I think I only gave you Butterfly and Desiree, both beauties as well.
I only brought a few of this one, not wanting her spread far and wide until she had bloomed in a completely different soil/climate.
Thanks Diane; I saw that too, when I went hunting him. I'd go nuts if my computer/server went down for days!
Yeah me and yiou both Jen! :-)
Wow, she is gorgeous!!
Arighty, I can finally post.
It was certainly a wonderful/horrible weekend.
I hosted a mini roundup, it was absolutely wonderful. Lots of fun, friends and food.
No phone line, no online.
Here are the pics!
Absolutely gorgeous, beautiful ruffles!!
Thanks Kristi!

Can't help falling in love with Bonnie Jean. Terrific pictures!
Mary
Thanks Paul! These are still lighter than they should be when the nights cool, (the heat is being bad everwhere!) but it better shows the orangey tones and ruffled skirt.
