Losing Moonvine???

Ladson, SC(Zone 8b)

Hi, I planted moonvine seeds for the first time this year and it's been growing good, in a pot, up a trellis. Now, the leaves are turning yellow, from the bottom up. I awoke this morning and the yellowing seems to have moved up even more. What's going on? I have her in good soil, don't believe I under/over water, fertilize 2x's a month. This vine was potted to cover a swing, with a pot on each side. The vine on the other side is a darker green, no yellow at all. Same soil, water, etc....

What do you guys think? I love this vine and it's ready to bloom! Don't wanna lose it now, please help....

is the bottom holder for water still on the pot??? if so take it off. we have had way too much water for morning glories this year and need good drainage.

i dont fertilize my moonvines at all.

some yellowing is happenning on mine too here due to excess water.

are yours in full sun?? mine are in part shade in the afternoon.

spidermites??? look under the leaves and see if you see spidery webs or any type of stuff not supposed to be there.

hope this gives you a little help.

this year has been bad for so many things so dont give up on them next year. the weather this year has made thingys wacky and some of my best performers arent doing a thing.

When I get scale on some of the plants here, seems the yellowing starts from the bottom and works it's way taking the whole plant as the bug moves up. I'd look it over really good for scale or bugs, good drainage is important too, I've grown the moonflower vine last year, and had a bottom on the pot, it did great, but your in a diff climate and it might be best to take the bottom off the pot for proper drainage.

Thanks for the overwatering tips guys. Did not know that, I have mine mixed in with my Basil, which needs mucho water! I have the same yellowing leaf problem! AKelley, I'm no expert but I would skip the fert. May not get any blooms.

fertilizers definitely will do it, if they put too much energy into producing length and extra leaves the older leaves don't get as much nutrients and yellow/fall off. They would do this from the bottom up since the bottom leaves are the relatively older ones.

Thank you all so much, I really appreciate it. I think it was the fertilizer, and I am done with that. : ) I hope I get some blooms! I haven't had any yet but I got them planted kinda late.

In the same pots I also have Carolina Jasmine in the center, and the biggest vine, then I have verbena (purple) trailing over the edges of the pots. The Jasmine and the verbena were already established when I planted the moonvine seeds. I am really looking forward to seeing them bloom and I believe I am starting to see buds.....Thanks again.
