C知on, sit a spell

Wow, it must have really rained here! When I got home, my little water feature basin was up to the very brim, just slightly spilling over! The inside dimensions are 31" by 24", and it was about 3" or 4" below the rim last night. Other large containers I had out were completely full, and there are signs everywhere that some of the beds were temporarily flooded.

We got 0.95" last night. Nothing today. I was in College Station with my cat today and it was awash with the rain which was headed to the southeast. It was very pleasant afterward.

I received good news today. Winston is free of the histoplasmosis. He's beaten the odds. I'll have to continue his medication for the next 2 months to be sure the fungus is gone.

I spotted some Copper Rain Lilies blooming over by the barn this afternoon. We've had enough rain lately that a number are blooming. They are such a pretty shade of golden orange.

Was out weeding tonight--I knew there was something positive about that long drought--NO MOSQUITOES--they have on romulin cloaking devices around here! You can hear them, feel them, but cannot see them! LOL

DMJ1218... I was thinking the mosquito bites I missed tonight was all in my mind or I sprayed too much Deet. I actually got a little extra work done tonight did some repotting too. ...so whats your explanation?
I am bringing up the vine issue again because I think I ruined all my morning glories and lab lab vines. I just got tired of trying to get a Trellis builded! ...so I bought a couple of six footers from the home depot...and by the grace of God got them in the car! ...got out my drill gun and put it up myself! In the meantime I tore up the vines trying to them from around the poles and tomatoe cages where they were
entwined...mercy i hope I didnt pull up any roots...it looks pitiful...but the trellis look wonderful! I will take a pic in the morning for 'show and tell'....:)

...my garden is in its glory...but not for long...things are beggining to burn up too....I ruined my Phyostegia which blooms in September by spilling a bag of pure
Nitrogen in the soil.

Sylvia--been raining alot down here; the mosquitoes (in their romulin cloaking devices) are about ready to carry you away. I had on deep woods but its also so d@#n hot down here you sweat it off--and if you stop working every 10 minutes to reapply you get little work done before it gets dark. Mosquitoes....my rant for the week! LOL

I wish it would rain 40 miles south of you. We get your thunder every day, but only a few sprinkles. No mosquitos left.

If you miss them trois I can do a Texas sized roundup and FedEx some to you!

That would do nicely. They would die quickly here now.

Now if I can just get them to turn off their cloaking devices to get them in the box.......

several clematis vines I pulled up from the ground...I think they will do alright next year...they are about eight months old.

....this is the kicker! lol hopefully they will dry well enough to lend some support. anyway i am proud of myself for finally discovering that i could actually buy a trellis and put it up myself and what more exciting I was able to find wood that is the same color of the fence. I better run back to HD and get the rest in that color...all the others were white.:)

oh yes I forgot to brag about how I got past my intimidations on using the drill gun I bought almost two years ago....which I used to put up the trellis. I bought this canister set at Foleys a few weeks ago which was ninty percent off. Last night I finally got the courage to drill holes in the bottom to make planters for my Herbs next spring. you can see them in this pic behind the Dollar plant on the pottin table.:)

...better still here is pic of the cannister (3 in a set) and a link to the Handyman thread where Raisedbedbob, Dispatcher1 and Potemup got me started. I think I am going to take the tops and make a bird feeder...Oh boy, I am on a roll! lol

Thanks Mitch!

By the way Sylvia--I really enjoyed your "constructing" posts here and on that garden question! You sound like me "single, female determined to build and garden"! I'm not a big fan of Star Trek either--I just always think of them when some insect is "firing" on me and I can't see them!
