See my new BED

(Linda) Winfield, KS(Zone 6a)

I got the headboard at a garage sale for $1. Had to have it. I have seen so many DG'ers that have made flower beds by using them. I had 3 EE's that I had in pots, that wasn't doing so good. Everytime they put on a new leaf I would loose a leaf. So I decided to plant them in the ground. The very smallest one closes to the headboard was in a gal. jug cut length wise with about 2 inches of soil. Since putting it in the ground it has really come alive. The other two were in 12 inch pots and when I removed them from there pot they were really root bound. I got the help of my husband this week-end and we put the timbers around the EE's and attached the headboard to them. I think it turned out really nice.

Thanks for looking Linda

Yup!! I LIKE it!!! Good job!! Now you can plant some other things in there too--maybe some Coleus or Caladiums?? Other things too would look nice. Bonnie : )

You know I thought about that. Putting some coleus around the edges. They are my DH's favorite.

Thanks for the suggestion. Linda

Very cute! I didn't have a headboard for my bed, so I make a white picket fence and screwed it to the wall. then I wove flowers and vines (sorry, plastic--not enough light for real ones) in and out of the fence. So my garden "bed" is inside. LOL!

Do you have a picture you could share with us. It sounds really cool. I would love to see it.

I don't have a way to upload pictures right now. But I have a friend that could help 'one day' when we get together. I would love to post a pic. I'm rather quite proud of myself. I used concrete form stakes (from a construction site--for free). Painted white with paint left-over in the shed, and flowers from the dollar store for under $5 and it turned out great. Was thinking to do the wall under the window too.

Those ears look great to me!!!!
Little red fountain grass,in the corners,or draceana spikes to give some different textures and a little height.
Tropicanna canna,or Bengal Tiger canna, thats my imagination getting carried away!!!

A very very clever idea, and it is just going to be so cute and different. Be sure to post when you get it all planted.
