I just recieved a package with many different seeds from a member in NY...they took over 3 wks to get here sent first class!
Please let me know what you think about me starting any of them now... I am in zone 9...San Jose, CA.

CARDINAL CLIMBER
CLITORIA TERNATEA
HOLLYHOCK
TROPICAL HUBISCUS
COLUMBINE
CLEMATIS
DUTCHMANS PIPES
CHILEAN GLORY VINE
YELLOW BELLS
ROSE OF SHARON
CROSSANDRA
JAPAGERIA ROSEA
ALSO SOME ORANGE LANTERN LOOKING SEED PODS...
Any Ideas? Thanks
? Is it too late to start seeds now...
I don't see why you can't start them now. Still lots of warm weather left in San Jose. If they need a combination of cool and warm to germinate, you can move them in and out of the fridge.
That is a great question as I wonder the same with many I didn't have time to plant this Spring!

One of the benefits in living in an area with a year round growing season. it really doesn't matter when you start them.
As to the clematis seeds, they will need to stay in a pot for the first couple of years. And watch for snails.
Oh, gosh. I hope it's not too late, Picturelady, because I still have some to plant too. Keep the Lapageria in a pot for a couple of years or you will lose it. It takes forever to get to blooming size, but it's gorgeous and not at all picky. It grows here in sun or shade. The only thing it doesn't like is strong winds, so try to pick a semi-sheltered spot.
