MAYA update

(Linda) Winfield, KS(Zone 6a)

Whatever he has or does he sure knows how to do it. Maybe I need to make a trip to Zion and take lessons from him. Then I doubt if that would help me. He is truly good at what he does. Especially with gardening. LOL

Carol your flowers are all just beautiful, is that Snow Cone you are holding ? and I see you have lots of my most favorite flower, ORCHIDS.

and he's a kick in the pants as well! loved that dress.

Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

Linda that's the test maya in ground. The other has been in a container the whole time and more shade. It's budding out as well but of course, not as tall. Neither will be the size of Carol's though, I think.

and that was NOT a dress!!! I don't do dresses or knitting which are girly sports. However I'm not above a mumu shot now and then and can crochet a mean afghan. :)

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

can you do a granny square Blaine? I learned how when I was 7 years old and a Bluebird. I have completely forgotten how.

(Linda) Winfield, KS(Zone 6a)

Will Blaine do you give classes, if so how much and how long do they last and when do they start?

Kidding a side you should be very proud of yourself and to your garden it is doing a marvelous job. There is a lot of us on here that is jealous, like me for one.

do I have a green thumb or a green face with envy, lol! I think me would be the latter!

Muskegon, MI(Zone 5a)

I love all these pictures..my snowbank looks like that Maya with all the suckers going up and down the stem....I have thought to just peel them off and make the top grow a bit neater....but what do I do?..I just let it go and keep watering and fertilizing...Michigan just isnt the best for Snowbank...thanks for such lovely pictures...Judy

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Doris...that was a Creamsickle...8ft wanted something to judge size...and having a large head (swollen?) I volunteered the face!!

Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

uh, not real sure what a granny square is. I lernt (southernspeak) some knots from the boatswain mates but probably forgot everything. Use it or lose it, huh?

lessons - maybe. Just make sure you're outfitted first. Need to acquire a milk carton crate and 6 big soda bottles.

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Huh?

Crate?

Bottles?

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

Carol, I love your surroundings. Could you please send me several tons of the nice dark dirt. LOL I can send you plenty of Mississippi sand. Your shade house for the seedlings is wonderful. All I see lacking is a chair.

Love the pink shorts.

Fort Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10b)

Me too Carol. I would like 2 cu ft of black volacanic dirt. I will send a letter size SASE and 50 cents postage. That should cover it huh? LOL

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

Woudn't a dark pink brug on variegated leaves be wonderful?

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

I am sure Kell is working on it!!! C'mon Kell...hurry up!!

One of my chores today is to strip leaves and spray the seedlings for ##%^$& mites!

HAHAHA...that wonderful "dirt" is volcanic cinders and sugarcane washings (old) we have trucked in by the 36 cu. yds! It is virtually sterile except for high phosphates from the old sugar cane fields...so we have to amend the heck out of it! THEN it is wonderful!!

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Karrie20x yes it would be wonderful to have a dark pink variegated brug here in the USA.
I am still broken hearted over the current slow death of my Angel's Paradise x ? seedling that I grew from AKA seeds. It is the only seedling from that batch of seeds that is variegated. And it is dying from root rot. I'm just sick about the possibilities of it being a double pink variegated. .... toooo sad. It is now a shriveling up stick . I get nauseated to even think about this loss.

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

How sad!!! Really sorry Vee8ch....:~{

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

Can't you clean it up and repot it? or something???? Maybe pull it out of the water, hose it well, and put it in some super thrive water for a couple of days and then repot?

Great pics, Carol. They're beautiful... :)

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Thanks.

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Karrie very young seedlings rarely survive root rot. The roots are drowned and no longer alive.
Sometimes you can pile the soil up further along the stem at the woodiest part and you can get new roots started that will save the day. That's what I did for this plant. I also treated it with fungicide. And sometimes if you do nothing and just let nature take it's course the little plant will send out new roots on it's own. Rare miracles but they do happen.
My variegated baby still has alot of healthy looking stem left. Maybe a miracle will happen.
... yeah right! ... ha!

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

well Carol that creamsickle is lovely, that is one I do not have, I am amazed at how large the flower is on my Snow Cone.

By the way for 47 cents + A BUBBLE envelope could you send me a couple dozen orchids.
HMMM somehow I was sure you would say that *LOL*

Carol,
I can see why you got addicted to brugs. They are beautiful !! I haven't gotten any but looks like I might have to try some. LOL Not that I need another addiction!!

This Shoe's wife? If you are, nice meeting you. If you aren't, well, nice meeting you.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Carol, Blaine, you're both doing a fantastic job.

Carol, love your pictures showing your different surroundings. You look like you're having such fun. Creamsickle must like HI.

Aberdeen, NC

Hi,
Not shoe's wife, good meeting you too. I am a hoya, jasmine, cactus, weird plant addict--plus have three horses and other critters. Between plants and horses it keeps me working and broke!! LOL

Sometimes I miss the best threads. Wow, Carol, what a spellbinding tour, your surrounding are romantic, beautiful and mysterious, all at the same time - someone needs to make the world's first brug movie and star you and Blaine and film it at your lovely place, with flash backs to Blaine's place. Your photos are wonderful too, and I love Blaine's 8 x 10. And, I love your Maya and Creamsickle, those blooms are just about as perfect as can be, so very pretty!! Wonderful thread - I'm staying tuned, now that I've found it!! The name of the movie could be: Desperate Brugwives...

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Desperate Brugwives I love it!!! That will be me tomorrow, DH stripping leaves from all my plants and Me spraying for mites with DH saying "Oh, do I HAVE to"....!!! I can think of about 79 other things I should be doing or would like to be doing!!!

More photos tomorrow. I love the attention!!!

Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

speaking of photos Carol... you should be getting a pack of 8x10's in a few days. Hope you haven't left for a walkabout yet.

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Carol you and Baline, and lots of others, do keep us in stitches, so the more attention you get, the more I love it!!! Some day, I'll be saying, I knew them, way back when.........lol!! When you get through stripping and spaying the kids in the HH, please tell us how long it took. I just cannot imagine. Good luck to you and DH and the seedling brugsters!!!

Quoting:
...Desperate Brugwives

wiping a little coffee off the monitor..

so I'm the guy in Raybans casually hanging out in the yard with a hose and a beer, watering while getting eyeball strain from staring in a different direction than the head is pointed because the cosmetically and surgically enhanced neighbor is doing some stiff legged weed pulling across the street.

(how's that for a run on sentence?)

Or, Desperate Brughubby Meets Debbie Does Dallas - kinda has a ring, doesn't it??!!

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Thank the angels for small favors....IT'S RAINING!!!

MAYbe I will get some work done with my Hoyas... Shouldn't count on it...much more fun hanging out here!!!

I think you are on to something, Sherry....

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Gosh I hope Sherry isn't or I am in big trouble. My brughubby is about as desperate as they come.

Gosh Blaine, your Maya looks better than her mother plant here. I think I need to go back to remedial brug 101. LOL

I just fertlized everything, all your talk of groceries made me feel like my poor plants were being starved.

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Whew, your sentence made me do a backwards sneeze!! Hey, I don't have it bad, my UPS guy looks like a young Arnie...

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Sherry...I thought that brugs were not self fertile....you mean I have to SPAY them TOO! Where do I start.... BLAINE?!!!!! HELP.

When they are older do they get hysterectomies?

This is more than I thought I was taking on!

;>)

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Hahahaha, Carol!! The tough part is figuring out who to neuter!

(Mary) Poway, CA(Zone 10a)

Too funny! If I laugh any harder I'll have to have a hysterical-ectomy
ROTFL
