We’re having a heat wave,
A tropical heat wave
It isn’t surprising
The way she can, Can-can
Creamsickle......
This one was taken tonight and there are more to come but they must wait until the morning. These are the ones I took during the day.

She is a true Southern Lady, she stays strong under the most stressful of situations.
Judy
Interesting, Judy. Yours' innerskirt falls way down, while mine barely clears the top skirt. Noticed this morning that all the previous blooms are pau ('pow'...hawaiian for "done" or "finished" or "over") but a new set coming on.
Anyone know what the skirt drop would be different?
Moi.
How do you keep them from getting those awful brown edges,They are so healthy looking. I bought a cutting with a "Y" this spring so I've had a few flowers from it already, but the edges turn brown. The plant is in a bigger pot now so I hope the plant will get more water to prevent that brown edging. What do yo do with your plants to avoid that? I used Bayer 2 in 1a few days before the flowers opened. Could the miticide have done the damage?
Really pretty, Judy! I am amazed any Brugs are flowering in this heat!
Sorry, it seems my website host is having a problem this morning therefore the link to the pictures taken yesterday will not work right now.
I can't begin to tell you everything that Creamsickle has endured the first of which is me for I've just begun to grow Brugs. Also :
Tropical Storm Dennis laid her over twice
Leaf damage from other storms
Spider Mites
Invasion of Grasshoppers
Temperatures high 90's Heat Indexes 105-111
She is pitiful looking and I never expected she would bloom so well. This is her first flush.
Shes lookin good Judy. I love the fullness of her, but just wish her color was more abundant. She makes a great white, eh?lol
Judy, she's so lovely, I got two blooms on mine, and one on her a few days ago, guess it's a small flush, but she 's the only one blooming right this moment too. I do have some buds on some of the others.
She's so pretty and dainty looking
Judy, this one has always been on of my favorites. One of several that take the heat so well and does not wilt in full day sun. The only time I get color in the blooms is in spring and fall when it is cooler. The blooms are so big and beautiful. Glad yours is doing better now.
Great pictures, Judy.
MSJen, I was a little perplexed about her being white and wondered if I had another one that was mislabeled, until I found some pictures on the Internet that were also white. Whew!!
BrugNanny- Thanks for the information, it's good to know that cooler weather is what it will take for her to get color.
She certainly makes my heart sing and DH is just foolish over her. When I went to move it, he really got anxious, afraid I would drop it, but I told him if one of us had an accidently moving the pot, I wanted it to be me, so I wouldn't be upset with HIM. Now isn't that a lot of foolishness over a plant. lol lol
Thank you all for taking the time to look at the pictures and post on this thread.

bettydee - Perhaps someone will answer your questions, I don't have the necessary experience to do so, but I also used the Bayer on this Brug, not very long ago.
Judy
I have some cream blooms on mine, but a couple days after they bloom they seem to loose that. and it's been scorching hot here heat index has been 110.
kathy
Judy your Creamsickle is beautiful, considering the heat. I have noticed that some blooms drop their skirt well, while others stay stuffed. I guess I have been lucky with my Creamsickle, it does get some color to it. Here is a pic of it taken last night at dusk.
Also, here is an interesting read from our local newspaper. We hit 90 yesterday, one degree from tieing the record of 91. I know many of you our laughing at these temps, thinking we don't know what hot is. But we rarely hit 90 degrees.

David,
Beautiful picture, beautiful blooms!! That article was so interesting, cute idea.
Thanks for sharing with us.
Judy
She is a beauty Judy! Your brugs are looking so nice and healthy. It's a wonder she bloomed so nicely for you in the heat and humidity. I wouldn't be able to bare the humidity very well at all! The past two days it's been in mid to upper 90's and plants are not all that is melting. Thanks for sharing your Creamsickle with us. That is one I may NEED to HAVE...LOL
Kin
so extra lovely so healthy to.. wonderful pictures..
Thank you Twyla and Kin!!!
Judy
Beautiful picture; beautiful plant.
This is one of my favorites too. I wish we knew the parents. The color change is such an extra added treat. Yours is just so pretty, Judy!
Lord Have Mercy!! We just had the most gosh awful storm roll through here. When it started, I ran out in the rain, snatched her up brought her onto the porch and repotted Creamsickle in a big ole pot I had just bought. I was determined she was not going to hit the ground again. About the time I finished, the thunder and lightening were something to behold.
The rains were so heavy within minutes we had a flash flood, the electricity went off and didn't come back on for 3 hours. The water was risin’ and I was the only one here. DH was gone to the big city. Actually I’m small so I don’t have much muscle power, but I knew the ditches around the house had to be dug a little deeper, at least in places, or the water was gonna come in the back door. I ran into the house, found DH’s bottle of blended sippin whiskey, put a shot in a glass and filled it the rest of the way with water. I gulped it down and ran back outside with a hoe, there is no way I can use a shovel. I would just have to rake them down. I scrapped off as much as I could and the water started gushing down hill. Meanwhile, the lightening was popping all around but I figured if I was gonna mean My Maker he would understand.
Exhausted I pulled my wet clothes and shoes off at the back door, went upstairs, lit candles and crawled into bed. Two hours later, DH arrived home and called out from downstairs. He hadn’t been in the storm but had seen my clothes, brugs outside that had been laid down, lots of standing water, no electricity and figured we must have had a bad storm.
Huggin’ me up tight he said he was sorry he wasn’t here to help me.
She's beau-ti-ful!!
Judy, it tired me out just from reading your story. There are times that we gotta do what we gotta do . . . lol . . . I know it is not funny but I can just visualize you getting that shot glass and a drink. What a sweet and loving DH you have.
Beautiful .... Judy & David!!
i 'm tempted if it would help me some.. but i always just get a headache so no use me trying that remedy.. I'm so sorry you had to do it to alone.. God was watching over you... hope fall did not hurt you.. prayers... blessings.. Twyla
Thanks Twyla!! I think my behind will be OK, it's just my pride that was hurt.
Judy
Good work Judy! That's one I had to give up on :( Does it smell as good as everyone says?
violabird - yes it has a very pleasant scent!!
Thank you all for your kind remarks.
Judy
ahhh, that's the information I was waiting for. Without passing the sniff-test, it's just another gorgeous bloom. I can flip through the DW's magazines and look at pictures of models. Big deal. She walks by all primped out ... well that's nice. THEN - that ephemeral trail of her 'Pleasures' perfume comes by and I'm sold all over again.
Thanks for the pics.
BrugNanny - Somewhere I read the words "Dutch Courage" in regard to the whiskey and I surely needed courage from somewhere to get out in that pouring rain and lightening to unclog that ditch. BUT like you said, sometime a person just has to do what that have to do!! lol lol
LOL! Judy, you missed your calling! You would make a wonderful writer! You have the knack of getting the real feeling into something!
Sure wish you'd send us some of that rain.
I love this brug, too. Yours is beautiful! My blooms turn orangey on the second day, but by that time they are usually a little bit spotty, too. Maybe after this awful hot, dry spell, they'll quit getting the spots.
I'm so glad you saved the house from flooding, and yes, it sounds like you also have a wonderful DH! (Me, too!)
Kay
Gaylams - I can't imagine a Brug being any better than this one.. well unless she were a deep orange. DH told me she was worth all the trouble.
8ft put this one on your "Must Have List". The fragrance is similar to Chanel 19 worn by a Southern lady on a Spring Evening, turning heads as she walks by.
Judy
woe is me!
I'm such a sucker for big flippy hairdos and sultry perfume. Stunning picture and if your ears are burning tonight it's probably me grouching that you live too far away to drive over a sniff!
Judy, great blooms. I had my Pink Frost in a pot but after blooming early it started dropping leaves and drooping from lack of water. I lugged the thing back to a flower bed and it is now looking better. I am hoping for more blooms. I am waiting on a white one to bloom that Jim gave me at the KYRU last fall.
The leaves on the white is double the size of the Pink Frosty. It looks so healthy. Is it just the variety of brugs?
bluegrass425 - I wish I could answer your questions but I'm not an experienced Brug person.
I do know however that the bigger my pots the bigger the leaves, but within a pot size there are different size leaves. (Did that make sense??) For instance I have Charles G in a 25 gallon pot and the leaves are 'giant' size but the leaves on Charles G in a 5 gallon pot don't look larger than other brugs in the same size pot or larger.
Judy
Judy, it is pictures like yours that is keeping me hooked *S* I don't have any doubles yet, but one day !!!!!!
Doris
