I finally got a guy to stay still. They seem very nervous this year.

wow - thats beautiful! We have a few in our yard this year that look as big as helicopters, but they haven't come down close enough for me to take a pic. And I don't think any of them are red like that! Does look like he's smiling......
They always look like that. Like a big smile.

We have a few of the reds, but they don't like to land very often. The greens and blues are very common in my area, and they seem to enjoy having their picture taken!

Here is a pic of a Needham Skimmer. This one seems to have chosen my yard as a hunting ground.
Here is a shot of a female Eastern Pondhawk--what appears to be her mouth seems to be turned down at the corners.
This one is the male counterpart of the Eastern Pondhawk--as is frequently the case with dragonflies, he is a completely different color.
This is a golden one.

Rich, your "golden one" shot is out of this world! I've always loved dragonflies, but you've added a whole 'nuther dimension to my enjoyment of them :-)

I want a big flat monitor or TV on the wall with all of his shots on a CD or harddrive and just have it in a constant slideshow... maybe interspersed with flower closeups.
Bet you could sell that idea to dentist and doctor's offices.
