guys, these are fantastic. Wish I had been there. But Houston is next, Houston is next.

I know Jennifer from Plantmeet.com. Great gal. She moved to Austin this year. The spring and fall swaps held at the Mercer Arboretum (houston) are the absolutest most fun! A ton of people attend. Heck I live in SW Houston and I drive all the way there because they are so great.

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Hahaha...Maggiemoo...you are sooo funny! I didn't know you took that picture. Yes, that was me on my cell phone talking to my DH who was in AZ all week. I was telling him all about the nursery and you all. ;)

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

It looks like yall had a Great Time. I cant wait for Houston.

Meadows Place, TX(Zone 9a)

Same here. Missed seeing all of ya'll but was thinking of you. Donna, thanks for the call, it felt as if I were there with ya'll creating some fun. I'll have to get over to Austin some time because I'd like to try some of that "Tea".

See ya'll in Sept., Oct. and Nov.

May be next time, Thank you for the pictures.
Josephine.

The 'Plantmobile' Dr. O painted with friends one summer. She and her husband have since bought it from The Natural Gardener and she is working to start a non-profit organization that will go to schools and other organizations teaching about butterflies, etc.

Dear folks,
You all were SO nice and I really enjoyed meeting everyone...as you can see I have joined your group and hope to meet you again! Only one correction...I bought the Plantmobile from the Botanical Garden (where I was Director of Education for seven years). I'm now partnering with places like the Natural Gardner to keep it out in the public until we can get funding to operate it full time. We'd like to make a commitment to some of the schools where we helped build gardens in the past to support the teachers and help them better utilize the garden as a teaching tool. Gardens have the potential of transforming children's lives, teachin ghtem empathy and giving them academic and social benefits they can't receive from textbook learning.
YOU all were a lot of fun, thanks for all of your kind words!

Well good grief Donna...what was up with the traffic? Did I give you good directions to Pots and Plants from Emerald Gardens? I was hoping I didn't get y'all lost!! Traffic in Austin is really bad...sorry!!

Trois, it was great meeting your daughter and your son in law!

Michelle

Conroe, TX(Zone 9a)

Oh my goodnes, welcome MollyO!! We were calling you Dr. O. I'm so glad you joined us (you can now correct everything else that we said wrong.) :-) Be sure to check out the Butterflies & Hummers forum, you'll see many people dedicated to establishing butterfly-friendly environments.

Folks, we are very honored indeed to have MollyO among us, be sure to give her a big welcome!

Michelle, you gave us great directions, the traffic just is what it is.

Santa Fe, TX(Zone 9b)

Traffic was bad and traffic signs were awful. I got lost twice, but still made it to pots and pans. We need to include distance in directions I almost turned around to come back when I saw the sign. Knowing it was a long way, or it seemed a long way because of traffic, would help. I am going to drive out to Maas nursery for the Oct tour to assist in giving a little better directions than I have in the past, and note landmarks along the way.
Michelle, it was a pleasure meeting you.

Dr. O, I will send some Butterfly pics soon. I just have to find them first.

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Oh good Mary, I thought I'd sent y'all the wrong way. My DH calls me "wrong way woman" sometimes!

Trois, oh yes...Austin is not known for having good directional signs. It is even worse in Pflugerville (north of Austin) where they have no street signs at all. I guess they figure you know where you are going and no need for spending money on street signs. ;) It was wonderful meeting you and Barbara as well...you two are so sweet. Did Barbara manage to smuggle out that gray kitten?

MollyO, thanks for your great presentation. Mary took a wonderful picture of a butterfly on a sunflower at NG. She posted it up above. so since I'm paranoid of killing any good butterly larvae...I noticed that my marigolds, tomato plants and geraniums were covered in these things today...pls see picture. Someone on the tomato forum said it was a corn ear worm. yuk. It chowed down one of my big marigold bushes. I picked off about 50 of them but want to be sure I'm not killing anything that will turn into a butterfly.

That is as close as my camera would allow.
Thanks
Michelle

WOW, this was a wonderful get together! Thank you Mary, Trois, and Donna for taking and posting your great pictures of the event. Hazel, yes, you were missed! Kipper and all others who couldn't come, please make every effort to attend these fun meetings. I am so glad more are planned for the future.
I have spent the last 2 days planting all my new babies. The recent rain made the ground nice and soft, so it was not near as much work as it would have been 2 weeks ago. I think I have about 20 new salvias and penstemons. I have to get the hang of staring cuttings so I can share at the next trade.
Welcome Dr. "O" Miss Molly. We are so happy you have joined us. All of your great knowledge will be passed along to a great group of garden and nature lovers. We will be watching for your posts.
TIL next time, SEEYA, Margie

Kerrville, TX

Wow great pictures you guys...I can tell from the smiles that you had a great time. I am looking forward to meeting you all and am so disappointed that I didn't make it. The little doggy is better now but I have been sick all week..and trying to get some unpacking done too so I haven't been on the board to check for pics..

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

I haven't laughed so much since the round-up at Donna's. This website has doneso much to improve my outlook in general, not just on the subject of plants. Knowing people that are as fascinated with plants as I am, and getting to talk to those people and go places with them (especially to a nursery which is one of my favorite places to hang out) helps so much to keep me from developing tunnel vision. When my world seems so small and boring, I look at my plants and think about all the people I have met because of them. When I started taking an interest in gardening, I had no idea where it would lead. I'm glad I stuck with it.

Hazel, Kip and Ruthie and anybody else that didn't get to come, you missed a really good day, but because it was a good day, I know we'll do it again. We missed you.

Conroe, TX(Zone 9a)

Mary Lee, I absolutely agree with you! When I look at my garden now, I am constantly reminded of the friends I have made in this garden @DG. I find myself always wanting to share a new experience, a new bloom, ask an opinion, or seek advice from my family here.

When I first started gardening, it was almost with a vengeance, I guess I was working out my anger (that seems like a strong word, but it fits) at my suddenly empty nest. It was something I could pour myself into, and was at that time a very solitary thing. Amazing how working with God's growing things He can take us someplace we didn't even know we wanted to go!

I have immensely enjoyed my trips to Kerrville, San Antonio and New Braunfels. Now I have even more to look forward to when I visit my sister in Austin. And I'm looking forward to meeting more people nearby in Houston, and in Dallas also. Who ever thought I'd be travelling all over the state? Who knew that I'd know people all over the state?
:-)

Santa Fe, TX(Zone 9b)

It's magic.

Conroe, TX(Zone 9a)

Magic indeed!

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8b)

Yes maggie, this has been a great adventure for me too. Who would ever think joining a gardening group would lead to such excitement and fulfillment. I don't think Dave knows what his work and creativity has meant for so many of us. There are benefits that really have nothing to do with gardening, and everything to do with connecting with wonderful people to share with. I lead a rather solitary life, and this has been such an easy and non threating way to meet new people and get me out of the house. I am thankful that I have met all of you, and look forward to a continuing friendship. SEEYA, Margie

Conroe, TX(Zone 9a)

Margie, I'm so glad you "came out" and met us, too. I was amazed to hear you call yourself a recluse! You are a very warm, outgoing, generous person to me. I love your "SEEYA"'s!
:-)

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Yea, I have a really hard time pictureing you as a recluse, Margie. Does a recluse bring armloads of gag gifts to a bunch of strangers? Speaking of gag gifts do we want to do that again. I thought it was kind of neat and I have some white elephants to get rid of. I guess I should post this on the Nov RU thread. I'll do that. Margie, you can call yourself anything you want as long as you continue to be that wonderful laughing person that rode in my car in Austin.LOL

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8b)

Thank you Mary Lee and Mary, Just to let you know , the SEEYA was the way my son always said his parting greeting, so I have adopted the saying for myself....it helps keep me connected with him. We will do some more laughing at our next get together. I hope even more people will join us. Donna is such a kind person to provide their place and her organizational skills to make the round-ups happen. Gotta go to work tomorrow, so SEEYA, Margie
