I'd like to start contributing to the data base, I've been here 2 years, and have never done so. I know , shame on me, but i'd like to change that now. But, I can't seem to figure out how to go about posting pictures there?
thanks in advance for your help

How to post pictures on Plant files
Here are some instructions: http://davesgarden.com/faq/pf/#19 - hopefully they make sense, but if you get stuck at any point, just holler ;o)
thanks Terry, I'm adding my images as we speak LOL. boy this will be a working progress, it takes me forever on my computer to load pictures.

What happens if you have say< an iris tall bearded that isn't listed in the data base already. what do you do to put that particular one in the data base. I have the tall bearded iris named grape snake, and I didn't see it in the data base and wanted to put it there. ? I'm learning. LOL I 've already posted 2 or 3 photos .

Once you have done a couple of Searches to see if the plant is already listed and you don't find it, there is a link at the bottom of the main page of the PlantFiles to Add a new plant:
http://davesgarden.com/pf/add.php
It's wise to search in several ways to verify that it isn't already listed.
I use the regular Search Feature:
http://davesgarden.com/pf/adv_search.php?Search=Click+here+to+search+for+plants
And then I usually try a couple of ways in the Generalized Search (up at the top of that main search page) before I make a decision to enter a new plant. http://davesgarden.com/pf/search.php
On the example you gave, I came up with this listing:
http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/60453/index.html
I don't know if that is a typo or if indeed the cultivar is 'Grape Snakez'

Kathy - when you are in PlantFiles, look just below the PlantFiles tab... there's a link that says "Add a plant". If you are adding a new plant to PF, make sure that it's not already been entered and that you have spelled everything correctly. Also of course make sure that your picture is accurate! If you need help figuring out some of the parameters like family, genus, etc. you can refer to a similar entry if there is one. In your case you could use any of the "tall bearded iris" entries for an example, such as http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/34697/index.html Adding a new plant is a multi-step process - details must be entered separately.
Edited to say, Happenstance can type faster than I!

Thanks happenstance, the picture that flowerfrenzy posted looks exactly like my grape snake, I got it here in searcy from a hybridizer. He wrote on mine grape snake, But it's the same iris. Since I won't be posting the name, just the picture, I'll post my picture there too.
I have to figure how you found grape snakez, cause I searched for 30 minutes and couldn't find it. But I guess you told me how youfound it. in those links.. I'll get it figured out sooner or later.
Thanks so much for the help

You might also want to do some research through Google or your Iris contacts to see if you can verify the name. If you can give a few sources for your information, that it truly is 'Grape Snake', click on the "Report an error" button at the top of the page for this particular plant and report your findings the the Admin staff. They are glad to help with typos, name clarifications and corrections to data about the plants listed in the PlantFiles.
Well, I just emailed the man I bought mine from, he's a hybridizer, and had this one growing. When I looked up on google though it was called grape snakez. Thanks,
kathy
