I don't venture into this forum much (altho I should the pics are stunning!) - so maybe this info is available in another thread and someone could point me that way.
I'd like to dig some asiatics to trade.
What is the best way to approach this? They've finished blooming.
Can I do this now?
When I send them, should the stem remain attached?
How should the bulb be sent? (dry in loose newspaper?)
I appreciate the pointers!
how to best move/trade asiatics
Best time to dig and trade is after the stem dies back in late fall. Dig the bulb and wash soil from the roots. Then put in a bag with some slightly moist peatmoss sphagnum, or wooden shavings (guiney pig bedding). The material should just be barely moist.. definitily not wet. Here it goes that the drier the better. Some moisture just to keep it hydrated is all that is needed.
Mail in a box which does not get pressed in.
Thanks much--this helps!
