I just received a lot of lily bulbs I need to plant them in pots until I make a bed for them.
How deep should I plant them in 1 gallon trade pots?
Should I let them die all they way back this fall; before I plant them in their own bed?
Thanks ahead of time.Jody

Okay I need advice
Jody,
You can plant almost towards the bottom of pot till you can plant out. Fairly late in the year anyway so no bloom, but you want stem roots to form. I've far too many still in pots. Feb. purchases - aaaak.

Then plant them this fall at the same depth as they are in the pots? with the stem still sticking out of the ground? or should I wait until they die all the way back?I shouldn't have bought them this late.I wasn't thinking.By the way I'm send you a Dave's mail. Thanks,Jody
No, plantthem at their proper depth when you plant them out. I would plant them aSAP, as soon as you have their place(s) ready for them.
