Ken, are these lilies long lived in your garden? They only last one yr. in mine.
Just wondering if its just me and my soil, or what?

Maxine,
they live many years in my yard.

Are you following good procedures for handling lilies:

- plant in well draining soil which does not stays wet especially in winter (well draining soil. amending clay soil set)
- plant in partial sun or sun
- fertilize in spring and deadhead spent flowers after flowering has completed
- leave flower stem to conduct photosynthesis for rest of reason

Thanks Ken for all of the info.

Yes, I do all that you mentioned.
Talked to a friend yesterday in the Twin Cities and she said that she can't keep Oriental's, Orienpets and sometimes Trumpets either.
She is on heavy soil, but I am on amended sand. Heavy clay worked into the sand with a garden tiller many times, and compost put on top and tilled in afterwards.
