My flowers seemed to have come out darker than what I've seen posted here. Is this a normal variation, or do I have 'dud' seeds?
'Joyce Cobb'??
Stacey -
This is NOT my photo - Photo belongs to Larry [Daturapod].
Here is what his 'Joyce Cobb' is supposed to look like,
including the color change at the end of the day.
Larry Smith [who hybridized 'Joyce Cobb']
also says that if your 'Joyce Cobb' blooms do not have the
Blue-Purple turning to Rose-Pink by the end of the day,
IT IS A MUTATION called 'Rebecca'.
Your Bloom is Stunning, but much darker than it should be.
Just watch them and see if they change color and what variations you get.
Hope this helps.
Emma

PS: FINALLY got my 'REAL' Plum Frost Bloom ---
Yippeeeee,
They have been crossing like crazy, and the crosses are so to die for,
but I still wanted the 'Real' One . . .AND . . . Got it *-*
Have photo posted on this thread along with one of the other crosses 'Mauve Frost'

Here's what they look like after they've faded some...
All the flowers on this vine will be the same, since this is the only seed that survived out of all I planted. It's growing great--it's nearly taken over half the length of the garden fence (approx. 15 ft.), and is growing up the corn and out across the ground. If anyone has any 'Joyce Cobb' seed they'd like to throw my way or trade me, I'd certainly appreciate it! I'll have more than plenty of 'Rebecca' seed in a month or so.

Stacey,
That is AWESOME....
I have some Joyce Cobb and would LOVE to have some of your
Rebecca. I already have one seed pod from this year and can send it on to you if you want to grow this year.
And can send you more seeds later.
Also probably still have a few left over that I planted mine from - received from Larry. LMK. K?
Emma
Sounds cool to me! Email me your address again...
