blue eyed grass seed

Denver, CO(Zone 6a)

How do I collect seed from a blue eyed grass plant and how do I know when they are ready to harvest?
Any information will be appreciated.

I just wandered in here and saw your post. I hope you didn't lose your seeds when you didn't get a response. I was a real dork when I became a member in May (maybe it was the first of June) and didn't know how to navigate this site. I have some blue-eyed grass. When the seed pods turn black and hard, they are ready, but you have to be ready to catch them right away or they'll drop and break open and you will have lost the tiny seeds before you know it. I keep a real close eye on mine and pick them as soon as I can feel the seed pod is hard. You have to do it almost daily. I rub the seed pods between my index finger and thumb to break them open to get the seeds out. They're really tiny little seeds. If you've lost yours, I have a little bit left I can send to you. Let me know.

They self seed prolifically for me so you might have a lot of babies next
year to dig out and move to places you like.

Tam, I hope so! I only have a few plants of this, and really want more. :-)

They have a robust root system, I'll bet you can divide them.
I found some at the edge of my driveway a few years ago, I wouldn't have noticed them except for the flowers, so I left them there.
Years later they were invading my Hens and Chicks so I tried to pull some out.
I had to do some repair on the chicks patch because of the large roots on the blue eyed grass.

I actually did divide them about a month ago, when I moved them to a new location. I had gotten some more at a sale at that time, and I planted them all together, but it's still a pretty small patch. I imagine next year, it will fill in quite nicely.
