Well, I did brought some beautiful hydrangea today and sure this is my first plant ever I have...

I wonder to know how to take care of hydrangea macrophylla.

Rusty,
It's sooo pretty.
I love hydrangeas, but never had any luck growing them.
I once researched every thread I could find with any kind of hydrangea growing tip.
After reading story after story all proclaiming "My grandmother grew huge hydrangeas without ever doing anything special to them" the most sensible tip I found was that in order to successfully grow hydrangeas you must be someone's grandma (a great grandma is even better) and you must be well over 60 years old. *LOL*

Good luck

H. macrophylla requires moist (not wet) soil, good air circulation, sufficient sun to bloom without heating up the soil overmuch, and wise pruning. It blooms on old wood, not new, so overeager newbies don't always realize that enthusiastic pruning with the Felcos can eliminate this season's blooms. Pinching back also helps to keep them from getting overly rangy, as some varieties of H. macrophylla get as tall as 6-8'.

Regular feeding also helps, and some varieties, not all, respond to acidic soil by turning blue. However, they need the acid BEFORE they form buds, so such feeding should start 2-3 months before blooms start to form.

I had to move mine to the mostly shade. It just got too toasty in full sun. It does like to have damp toes.

Stanford, CA(Zone 9b)

I find that I can grow mine in a lot of shade but it depends on the cultivar - and the shade. Deep shade won't do. Filtered shade is great. Don't let them dry out or they get pale green, drop leaves and blossoms and even crinkle. But they are really tough and can generally be brought back by some TLC.

While you're in zone 8, that doesn't say anything about high temperatures. So if you're in a hot summer area (aren't we all?) then they can tolerate quite a bit more shade than you'd think.

Well, I am in 3 zones in my area. Zones which I am 8, 9 and 10.
I put along the front yard on house on side of the wood of the tree shade.
