Roundup information

Temecula, CA(Zone 8b)

hiya, Don here,

Pam and I are really jazzed about tomorrow and wanted you to know a few things:

Plenty of parking is provided on the lot across from the ranch. I've just disced it and it can handle over a 100 cars if necessary.

Clean restroom facilities will be at the lower gate to the ranch. One facility is handicap accessible for those requiring such things.

Carlos will meet all guests at their car with a motor cart so all gear and plants can be brought in without anyone having to make a bunch of trips back and forth to their cars.

Honorato will be opening and closing the gates so that we don't lose any critters. This is a working ranch, and although horses love plants for lunch they don't normally attend functions or trade plants, so they'll be working with Carolyn and the guys. Anyone interested in seeing a particular horse may request of Carolyn to bring it over so that you can get a closer look.

We do have four ranch dogs. Ignore them and they won't bother you....much...lol. Barking is a ranch dog's way of saying hello. None are biters, none are anything but loving, but they make a lot of noise. It is their way of saying hello and warning us and the horses that there are people about that they don't know. They will come to you if they feel like a scratch behind the ear or pat on the belly. Otherwise they have a job to do and ignoring them puts them back on the job. Please don't pick Scamp up. He's a Jack Russell terrier and has no idea he only weighs 11 pounds. He thinks he's much bigger and being picked up is an insult to his bizzare self image and his over inflated ego...lol.

For those requiring a cart to get around just let me know and I'll be happy to cart you around so you can see the ranch without having to hike. There will be hot coffee and tea served in the morning for those wishing to have some. There will also be doughnuts and possibly some muffins out early.

There is an empty, cold refrigerator freezer in the tack room of the lower barn for those needing to keep there stuff cold until serving time. I have limited refrigerator space and have completely emptied one for this event.

Please let our ranch hands help you lift, carry, move anything/ everything.

A 4ft by 32ft table has been constructed for displaying plants It is partial sun at midday. If you need shade let me know and we'll accommodate your needs. This may double as an eating table. We do have a couple of tables set out specifically for eating, space is limited.

There will be signs out on the roads guiding those of you using Mapquest maps to the ranch....lol.

Frogsrus has our telephone number. I will be carrying a cellphone (despicible things) the number is 951-501-9809 for anyone requiring directions.

We've attempted to think of everything, yet if anyone has special needs please let me know here or call me on my cell. I'll do what I can to assist.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Thanks Don,
That pretty well covers it. I am looking so forward to meeting you and seeing your ranch.
See you tomorrow and thank you so much for having this for us.

Can I bring my own patio folder chair?

Temecula, CA(Zone 8b)

hiya Rusty56,

Bringing your own chair would guarantee you have a place to sit..lol. We have about 15 or so chairs for outside and that's it. I checked on rentals and it was out of control. So, by all means, bring a chair.

Jasper Co., MO(Zone 6b)

Okay thanks!

Better send a pick up for me LOL. My van looks like I did damage to a small nursery. I packed up last night so it is smelling good this am. See you in a couple of hours.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

I'm bringing alot that I hope I don't have to haul home. Janice, I have the red bushy plant for you.
Maybe what I have left over, Don will let me plant on his ranch!!! See you guys there.

Conroe, TX(Zone 9a)

That's what happens when you host a RU, you have to start a whole new garden for the orphaned trades! Have fun you guys!

Crossville, TN

Fabulous!! We may never leave...so if you don't see us on DG for a while...we're still enjoying Don and Pam's hospitality! LOL

Cart please...these old feet don't do much walking. Jo

Temecula, CA(Zone 8b)

gotcha rr,

It will be an honor to be your chauffeur for the day.

Perris, CA(Zone 9a)

I am leaving Perris for Temecula in about a half hour from now. I can hardly wait to be surrounded by so many gardening experts and I hope I can learn about gardening. Loida went to church this morning (we are SDA) but she says that after her surgery that is about all she will be able to do today. She got up at 5 am to make the pansit (sp?) I dug up about 50 bulbs of Lycoris Naked Lady on Tuesday. I am giving them away to anyone who wants them (just a couple per who ever wants them so they go around if anyone even wants them) as I still have about fifty left in the garden. As I have said many times I am still a novice; learning all the time and I won't guarantee that these will live. Be sure to ask me about my grandkids as I am bringing a picture. LOL

See you in a bit,

Chuck

See, that is what I am griping about. I saw you yesterday but don't think that I ever got around to talking to you. I would want an hour or two with each and every one who was there. Sue and I really had a good time.

I agree, George. Next time maybe we should set up tables for one-on-ones like speed dating! I don't know how many times I opened my mouth to say hi to someone and got sidetracked. To everyone I missed, hit me over the head at the next RU!
