Hi!
Morning Glories are new to me, gardening is new to me actually, so don't laugh! I planted two Heavenly Blue MG in this pot. They are growing quite fast but have now reached the top. Should I pinch the tops? Will this encourage side branching? The obelisk is pretty sparse, some new growth would be nice. Or should I just pop a couple of more seeds in the pot to cover it up?
Thanks for the help,
James
Do I pinch my Morning Glories?
I think entwining it around the obelisk would be a good thing, I dont know about pinching back though.
Since your vine is going good and twining I would go ahead and pinch out the tip now. This will encourage side shoots and help fill out the trellis giving you more flowers.
I only pinch vines when I have just one or two in a pot so they will go ahead and make more. I wait until they are about 10-12 inches long before I do this. If I have several vines in a pot I don't pinch them because they will start to spring more on there own later.
Hope this helps....
Hey,
Thanks pebble and Willow. I will pich as I only have two plants in the pot. It is just amazing how plants grow. I learn new things everyday. They are about 24" long now, so pinching will be OK. Will think work for my Thunbergia as well? I have the Blushing Susies.
Thank you again,
James
James it will work find for the Thumbergia and they will fill out faster than you think. Pinch away. They will love you for it.
keep us posted on the progress.
Dee
Will do, just pinched my MG last night. They put out 3" of growth just in that day!
Thanks again!!!
James
