I was trying to be careful around a small tree with my new string trimmer but
I noticed later I have nicked it accidently can someone suggest what I can
put on the wound to help it heal? I have apologized profusely to the tree
already
help with tree damage
Apologies are good! :-)
Beyond that, examine the tree closely to see if you penetrated through the outer bark, and if so, how far around the tree. If it's a small wound relative to the circumference, it probably will be OK as long as no secondary pests gain entry there. But if you went more than half way around, the tree could be in trouble. Just wait and see (and mulch a big circle around the tree to avoid the need for future trimmer use there). Regardless, don't apply anything to the wound, and keep it open to the air.
