Hi all -
Can anyone tell me how to know when the seeds are ready to harvest on the purple majesty millet (or probably any millet would be the same)? I don't want to try and harvest too soon, but don't want the birds to eat it all, either! Should it fall out of the seed stalk easily, or do you have to pull it out? I can see the seeds in there, but they don't fall out when you shake it, but I can pull them out . . . are they ready?
Any advice is appreciated!
Thanks,
Onalee
purple majesty millet - when are the seeds ready?
Put a knee-Hi stocking over the seeds head wih a rubber band or twistie to capture the ripening seeds.
'Purple Majesty' (Pennisetum glaucum)
