The really tall bulb plant in the second photo at the top is blooming. Does anyone know what it might be? It's almost 6 feet tall...

Darius,

It most likely is a Trumpet Lily.....Maybe Pink Perfection. They grow that tall.....was most likely a small bulb since it only gave 2 flowers.

Thanks, Bleek!

ncgardenaddict,

Mount Hood does come up with white petals and a yellowish trumpet. However after a few days it should turn completely white. If it does not turn white, it is another variety like Holland Sensation or Music Hall or World's Favourite. Mount Hood is much more expensive than the others.

I have asked before and don't believe I ever really got an answer, other than "be patient Molly".

I bought a lot of allium in the coop. I tried my best to stick with bulbs they said would do well in zone 10. Okay, the bulbs were planted last fall, the allium were the first to come up. Looks forever like scallions. It's been 7-8 months now. When am I going to see some blooms? Ever? Does anyone know? And haven't I been patient? I see postings all over DG of gardens that have these blooming.

Molly, we have hopes of getting some answers from BB. At least, they have answered my querry on http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/523582/

One comment from me - I'm not looking for any compensation. I was still quite happy with my order, they might just need to tighten their inventory control a bit!! It's good to let companies know things like this so they can be corrected! I would want to know.

Molly, I bought a bunch of alliums one year, not from this coop, I never did see flowers on them, they just lookd like onions, now their all gone, think the moles ate them LOL. but 2 years went by they came up but no blooms, go figure. must take a while for them to get blooms on them

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

I got a DG mail from them today so will see what they have to say too.

Thanks Kathy.

Well, I received an email from BB and they are going to send replacements. That's good news.

I also got an email from them. After looking at a pic of what bloomed and what they were supposed to be, they decided I got the wrong bulbs and are replacing them.

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

WEll, I bought them as allium, drumstick and a couple other alliums, one was a yellow flowering one, it doesn't matter what kind of BULB I buy now, their all gone the next year from all the moles living around here, so I don't do bulbs any more, too expensive to feed those buggers, They seem to leave the lilies alone, and anything with a rysome they dont' bother either, but tulips, daff's, alliums, and several other bulbs are all gone now LOL

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

If it were MY business, I would bankrupt myself to replace the plants. Getting a "bad name" in a place like DG could cost a fortune in lost business. Trust & reputation are everything when you are selling an item that has to sit a year before it proves itself!

Amen!

Ok I been keeping my list and taking pictures but does this look like American Dream to you?

This one is really pretty . I have it has both American Heritage and American Style. I know it's not Heritage but not sure if it is really Style. Looks like it but its not red.

wow, the 2nd one is really cool! green really stands out. I can just imagine the "color echoes" possibilities with that one.

I really like that second one too!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Oh, mine are blooming now too and they are the correct ones!

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

I have several incipient blooms, but the 48 hour deluge of Dennis has held them up. I expect blooms in a day or two, though (assuming some sun) and one bud actually looks promising to be white!

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

Blooming Hills sent me emails--they are going to replace my lilies that bloomed wrong or never came up! Isn't that wonderful?

Feels like an epidemic--2 other sources I used had a bad bulb failure rate or mixed up bulbs. Not a good year for lilies in my garden.
