It's busy, busy, busy time for all of us. We'll understand if you don't show up regularly. Sure hope you understand when I can't. :-D

Coffee and...Part 19! :-D
Here we are....just lookie here.......back to fun and games
Good Morning Hap!
Yep, I got the new link fixed as soon as I "previewed" my post. (I had three windows opened and clicked on the wrong one to get the link to here. :-D)
It's so nice having a relatively new garden. I bought more new plants yesterday and only had to weed half my beds before I could plant them. Of course the rain (YES! we *finally* got a 'rain day' here! YEAH!!!) kept me guessing as to whether I'd win the race or not. ;-) One thing about it...the weeds might grow with the rain...but they're a LOT easier to pull afterward.
I only have about 6 more winter sown containers of perennials, a few herbs, and few more plants I'd planned to use in containers left in the GH's! FANTASTIC!! There's one thing that's nice about having a husband who is not really a gardener. He can't tell the difference between 4" nursery pot and "container." He thinks I'm *really* close to being finished with the ALL planting. What he doesn't realize is there are a LOT of 4" (and 6" & 10") pots *sitting* in my container staging area waiting for inspiration to hit (aside from those left in the greenhouses. LOL It still looks (and *feels!) GOOD to me!
Hap, I'm worried about you and how you're going to handle retirement. But I'm sure we can arrange a few 'races' with deadlines for the garden that will keep you on track. hehehe I'm thinking that all of us who live in the cold climates could send you ALL our tender plants for the winter. You'd *have* to get them all in the ground (deadline here) BEFORE they died...and then you'd *have* to dig them up and send them back to us BEFORE they sunburned next spring. (How's *that* for a couple of deadlines to work against? :-D)
~julie~
Good morning. Yesterday was nice so I spent the day outside. Got more things planted in the vegie garden, some more weeds pulled etc. And watering. More today of course and maybe will also get to go for a ride. There are still a couple of flower beds that need to have the weeds pulled for the first time this spring and here it is almost summer and the darned things are going to seed already! See you later when I take a break.
Hooray!! Good rain last night, filled up the bird baths, so we must have had a couple of inches at least. Need to tackle some weeds in one of the garden beds we started this year, once I get it cleaned out, I'm using Preen and then DH can put some grass mulch on it next time he mows. It's cloudy and cool, so it will be great to work outside without drowning in perspiration. Did some inside stuff early, dragged out a slipcover for the sofa and tucked it. They really are hideous! LOL I'm tired of looking at the upholstery so at least it's a change.
Julie, you are a working fool!! If Hap takes you up on the new deadline project, I think I'll piggy back some of my less hardy perennials along with yours. I'm sure they'd enjoy a Florida winter. I have a boodle of blackberries growing out back, so if the birds don't get them before I do, I might be able to put up some jam this year. Now, where did I put that netting......????
On the less cheery side, the death ray weed killer doesn't seem to be having any effect yet. I truly wanted instant demolition but I suppose that's too much to expect.
Back from the dentist~~~ It turned into a 2 1/2 hr appt. But that is ok. Didn't get the full mouth xrays -only the bitewings and they went fine. Hygenist said - everything looks ok- dentist comes in and wants to replace a filling and do a crown on another. I nixed the crown - told him to try fix the filling (I think he needs business!) Went out to make the appt and the gal says they can do it right then!! YAHOO - made my day!! I had taken 1 1/2 zanax, so I was on cruise!! Now I'm good for another 6 months!! Phew...
I'm gonna veg out today and just puttz in the house. Have a really good book to read, gonna do the dishes, then snuggle up and read. My reward for the stinkin dentist!
Birds are already in the sweet cherry tree. I don't think we've gotten a single cherry from that thing. For some reason, they leave the tart cherry one alone long enough for me to pick it. I'm gonna do cherry juice (for arthritis!!) this year.
Making chili for dinner too - sounds good in this cool weather.
Thought y'all might get a chuckle from this!
Getting Ready for the Beach
In days gone by, the bathing suit for the over 40 female crowd was boned, trussed and reinforced, not so much sewn as engineered to fit.
They were built to hold back in the right places and give some uplift - and they did a good job.
Today's stretch fabrics are designed for the prepubescent girl with a figure carved from a potato chip.
The mature woman has a choice -- -she can either go up front to the maternity department and try on a floral suit with a skirt, coming away looking like a hippopotamus who escaped from Disney's Fantasia -- or she can wander around every run of the mill department store trying to make a sensible choice from assorted designer's florescent rubber bands being sold as bathing suits.
What choice did I have? I wandered around, and in desperation, picked out one and entered the fitting room (which is known to most of us "older girls" as a chamber of horrors).
The first thing I noticed was the extraordinary tensile strength of the stretch material. The Lycra in that bathing costume must have been developed by NASA to launch small rockets from a slingshot. I fought my way into it, but as I "twanged" the shoulder strap in place, I gasped in horror --- my boobs had disappeared!
Eventually, I found one boob cowering under my left armpit. It took a while to find the other. At last I located it flattened beside my seventh rib.
The problem is that modern bathing suits have no bra cups. The mature woman is meant to wear her boobs spread across her chest like a speed bump.
I realigned my speed bump and lurched toward the mirror to take a full view assessment. The bathing suit fit all right, -- but it only fit those bits of me willing to stay inside it, unfortunately. The rest of me rebelliously oozed out from top, bottom, and sides. I looked like a lump of play dough wearing undersized cling wrap.
As I tried to work out where all those extra bits had come from, the prepubescent sales girl popped her head through the curtain, "Oh, there you are!", she said, "that is a lovely suit." I curtly asked what other suits she had to show me.
I tried on a cream-crinkled one that made me look like a lump of masking tape.
I tried on a floral two-piece, which gave the appearance of an oversized napkin in a serving ring.
I struggled into a 2-piece leopard skin that covered my stomach with ragged frills and I looked like Tarzan's Jane, pregnant with triplets and having a rough day.
I tried on a black number with a midriff and looked like a jellyfish in mourning.
I tried on a bright pink one-piece with such a high cut leg I thought I would have to wax my eyebrows to wear it.
Finally, I found a suit that fit - a two-piece affair with a shorts style bottom and a loose blouse-type top. It was cheap, comfortable, and bulge-friendly, so I bought it. I figured at least I had something I could wear and that the hours of search had been productive.
Life is not fair -- when I got home, I found a label, which read -- "Material might become transparent in water."
LOL Ain't it the truth...which is why no living person will ever see me on this earthly plane with a bathing suit on. I think the last time I wore bathing attire of any kind was on a cruise in 1980, and it was one which made my traveling companion of like age, gasp, "Are you really wearing that?" To which I replied, "You bet I am, nobody on this ship knows me but you and I've got too much on you for you to tell anyone about it"! And I did, and she didn't. This was taken on the cruise. Ahhh, I remember it well, 140 lbs of newly divorced woman!!
Sheesh - no pics of me in my suit!! Gosh M5 - you look good! We do have a pool and would you believe I DID go in it already this year!! I haven't been in it for several years. I have tummy flab and dimply legs that just won't go away and I am tired of trying to get the body to change. I do have a pair of black nylonie shorts that I do wear on the bottom half - trying to disguise the bottom!! I remember when we used to go skinny dipping all the time...
Still coolish here - even slept with blankets on and windows are all closed. 90's are coming back next week, so I gotta bust butt and get all my things planted today! (fat chance i think(
I spent yesterday doing not much of anything. I did get the greenhouse almost all cleaned out - good chore done. And I finished a big book I had started...all in all a nice day!
Take care everyone - I gotta go, I'm starved this morn
Haha Sarv.....that pic is history....tummy flab and dimpled .....ahhh well, you've looked across the lake and seen me outside, eh? LOL I'm not much inspired to try to regain that look either, I'm too fond of the foods that contributed to the flab and dimples. Although I saw a new "machine" on tv last night that's supposed to get rid of cellulite..............that would be like redecorating half your house!! Oh well, I'm headed fpr coffee and one of those chocolate biscotti, if you can't be fat and happy pushing 70 what's the point?
Swimsuits? HA! (LOL) Cut-off jeans and a tee is more my style, and I just LOVE to swim!
M5...I'm not really a 'working fool'...I just don't want DH to be able to tell me "I told you so" if I fail to get my garden work done. ;-) (He told me I was taking on more than I cound handle...and that was *last* year when I only had two or three very small beds. I'm *still* hanging in there. hehehe)
Yesterday I tackled few more square yards of weeds and *I* won (for the time being). I went for a haircut, bought some plants for a couple of window boxes (White Vinca and Lemon Drop marigolds to which I'll add a couple of red geraniums...really original, don't ya think? LOL) and bought carry out pizza for supper...DH was too tired to cook after a morning mixing and hauling concrete for the new fountain (Poor thing...) Oh! and I cleared out the rest of the plants in the GH's!! (I'm patting myself on the back here.)
I don't think I told you all my good news from the eye doctor yet. I'll be able to get my new glasses in only *TWO* weeks!!! Hooray! Doc tells me that I'm healing extremely well and if she couldn't see the reflection of the UV filters from my new lenses, she couldn't even tell I'd had surgery! They *did* put in 'corrective' lenses but I'll still have a slight prescription for one eye (distance) and, of course, I'll have to have a prescription for reading and using the computer. I'm still getting 'cricks' in my neck trying to read this monitor...and playing euchre is a REAL PITA. hahaha
Well folks...there's strawberries that need to be picked (Can't wait for next year when I'll have rhubarb to go with them!) some window boxes that need planting, and a LOT more weeds that need to learn where NOT to grow. :-D
Hope your day is WONDERFUL!
Later,
~julie~
OMG Darius...that is TOO funny! You have no idea how many years I have shopped like that! I'm passing this along to my oldest daughter who is 53 and is shopping for a new suit this year. Her other ones are too old (read: tight) so her search has just begun!
Pati
G'mornin' everyone.
Darius, that bathing suit show was a hoot. You really had me laughing!
It's gonna be a slightly overcast day so good for setting out my baby corn plants. They are growing in toilet paper tubes, it gives them a head start and gives me time to get my spot ready to plant them. Yesterday I hauled more manure and got it and the bone meal rototilled in and was all set to plant them after dinner but then our son and DIL came out and spent the evening. Her shoes looked too clean to be going into the garden so I didn't do anything but sit and visit. I'll get them planted this morning, then mow the lawn so I can mulch over the tops to minimize transplant shock if the sun gets too hot.
See you later.
Bathing suits - oh dear Darius that rings several bells! I may have lumps and bumps in all the wrong places, but I love swimming and if others don't like to look, well they can go home and leasve more room in the water for me - right?
Well I have a voice back, but I've been really rough for a week now. There seems to be a golf ball, or maybe a baseball stuck in the middle of my chest and "the breathing ain't easy" to misquote!. Doc says its a virus so I have to weather it and keep taking the steroids - I hate those. Just lost a few ponds and they will undo that in quick time.
Meanwhile the yard continues to grow, and its exhausting work when you CAN breathe with the temp is in the high 90s. Thats what you get for living in Texas and missing out on all that winter weather.
I have fresh garden tomatoes and peppers here and a few strawberries from the yard too. Anyone like to share a salad?
Carol
YUMMY okus! Just slice up those 'Maters, a few rings of peppers, some crumbled Feta cheese and a nice tart dressing. I'd like a nice crusty bread to sop up the juice. I'll probably be too full, but some of those strawberries mashed up with sugar and poured on a slice of Angel Food cake would be a nice finish. Do I hear the dinner bell?
Pati
Sliced fresh tomato sounds yummy, Carol. I still have a looong wait for fresh tomatoes here, since thet are only about 15" tall so far! I'll supply the feta!
Hi folks, it's break time. Salad sounds good and so does the cake and strawberries. We had fresh tomatoes with our dinner last night, grown in the greenhouse. I planted the seeds about Thanksgiving and we have had ripe tomatoes for about a month now. This fall I will try to remember to start them earlier. Too bad the lettuce is gone but there were a few volunteer plants in the garden which have already been eaten. Today I spotted a few more small ones. Still waiting for the lettuce I planted to come up. I water and wonder, and they usually make it. This year I used leftover seeds and have been dissappointed with some of the germination rates. New seeds next year, it doesn't matter how good the pictures on the packages look!
I got the corn set out and am now soaking seeds for another planting, 2 varieties this time, one is a 65 day variety (takes longer here because of our cool nights) and the other is a 75 day type. I always used to plant the same old variety and this year I couldn't find it so I'm trying 3 new kinds. I usually planted about 3 weeks apart so we have continuous corn until frost. Before ours is ready I buy corn from a stand in town, they bring produce in from a warmer area near the Columbia River that is several weeks ahead of us. I'm planting more beans too, and a few more squash. I always plant too much but the neighbors appreciate my surplus.
Back later. Lawn mowing time now.
darius,,,,I was just to call out the dogs, I haven't seen you anywhere in a while and was starting to get nervous. You OK? Forgot to click on "watch thread" on this one so had to go find if....Glad I did, 'cuz I found you....and other than the hilarious bathing suit fiasco, I take it you are well.....You are quite the writer.....thanks...
Hap
Actually Hap, I DO like to write, but I didn't write the bathing suit piece! I've been quite busy of late, chipping away at the accumulated debris in this apt. prior to getting ready to pack for moving. I think every single piece of mail since last October is (or was) stacked all around in piles. I'm about 1/4 the way through that paperwork, and making progress on the other junk. I sure wish my big filing cabinet wasn't in storage, so I'd have a place for papers I need to keep!
I have a new friend with a van who has promised to help me next week in moving some of the many, many boxes of books from storage so I can get them listed online and sold. Less stuff to move later, and a few dollars in my pocket.
Now, if only I could get some of the big stuff listed and sold, esp. my Miami Beach Art Deco railings and my 10 DR chairs.
Moving is such fun....I'd rather have a poke in the eye with a sharp stick!!! Easy does it......I saw your railing and that should go well on e-bay. What are your DR chairs like?
Have a great day.....
Hap
Good morning everyone!
Hap, is it time to 'party' yet? Or do we wait until Monday morning when you're offical? ;-)
Well, last night I was actually able to *sit* down and relax and just look at what's been accomplished with the gardens. It felt good knowing how little I have left that *needs* to be planted. LOL I'm nearly to the point where I can spend a little time reading DG forums that I haven't visited (much less participated in) since the end of last year's gardening season.
Yesterday, Eric poured the concrete for the 'tank' or pool part of the new fountain. This morning he's already out there removing the forms and it isn't even 7:00 yet. LOL He's really enjoying this project. I just wish I knew what inspired it! hehehe Today, he'll probably cast the top 'falls' area since he'll do that independently of the base and pool then set it in place in a day or two. I'm really getting anxious to *hear* the water.
As for me, today I need to get some transplanting done. I have perennials in a bed that's going to get Blue Rug Junipers planted in it and I want to make sure that they are moved while I still have room to get into the bed and dig big holes. And I'll probably get a few seeds planted after I get the beds raked out and ready.
I think I'm about ready to go SWIMMING! Anyone want to join me? LOL (I *promise* not to discuss the bathing suit issue until we're ALL UNDER the water! hehehe)
See ya later!
~julie~
Hap, my dining chairs are without a definite "style" that I can find other than just saying "Oriental" looking. They are solid oak that has been turned on a lathe to look like bamboo, with a cane insert in the backs. They have comfy wide seats (like the good Chippendale seats) that are 6-way hand-tied spring seats. Not a loose joint anywhere. They were white when I got them 20 years ago at an antique auction. I had them refinished in black lacquer, the springs re-tied, and new seat covers.
Unfortunately, I got taken on the expensive refinishing. They didn't do an adequate prep job and over the years the lacquer has chipped a lot and now they look "shabby chic" LOL. I used them with an antique carpathian walnut 8' conference table from an 1895 law office in Philly. (I stored the top and had the wonderful fluted column base sprayed black lacquer and put on a glass top.)
I just don't expect again to have a place large enough to have that size dining room, nor such big company dinners anymore.
Never say never there darius.....when I was getting divorsed almost 25 years ago, I thought I was dying and sold everything....and I mean everything except pot, pans and some china....Oh, what a mistake. Most of my furnishings were in the 1800 and I had hand picked each and every piece and had done all the refinishing (that was needed) myself....Used that @#$% Zip-Strip until my hands bled, waited a couple of days and then started back again....What a nut....
If you really love certain pieces, try and keep them....you won't be sorry.....and then later if you see that you Really don't need them....out they go. From what I am reading between the lines, you would rather deal with this stuff later....right? I know it's only material things....stuff..........but geewhiz...it's YOUR stuff.....
Take a deep breath...it'll be OK..
Nancy Lee
Julie88.....Oh, Julie................my DH just kissed me good-by and warned me not to get "emotional" today....I started LOLOLOLOL...what are you kidding.....I'm going to be a mess. The first one of my "Kids" that start to cry I am going to be in big trouble. Once I get my waterworks going, they are hard to stop. Such a wuss....
But then I will celebrate....going to DD tomorrow, posypeddlers and live it up in her new garden.....I think by living it up, she means planting it up....oh well, just to be with her....I saw her a couple of months ago and for some reason is seems like eternity.....I miss my children so much. My DH asked me last night if I would ever move north and I told him no....(If something happened to him) This is my home, my garden, my world.....and I love it; albeit lonely at times.
Off to say good-by................
Thanks. : )
Hap, have a great tomorrow!!! You might turn on the waterworks for a while but after all is said and done, it will be a momentous day!
And, Darius, I've not regretted leaving furniture behind, only people. When we built, I made the "dining" room my computer area, DH took one of the small bedrooms for his, and I sold my dining set, saying I was not likely to feed that many people again....but of course I have...and when we do, I use the dinette, the snack bar and a folding table or do it buffet style and let every one sit where ever they can plant their rear! No one seems to mind, and I have only had to drag out the good china when I run out of my other dishes.
I figure if they are coming to see a formal table setting, they can go to a fancy restaurant instead! Ain't old age wonderful, you get to make up all your own rules!!!
5:22 am and I am ready to go! It is wedding shower day!!! Chicken salad is all made (DH said it was good) I couldn't even stand the smell of it after cooking all that chicken, so I didn't even do a taste test..
whine whine coming...My sister from out of town was supposed to drive up on Fri (she took the day off from work - 4.5 hr drive) She is co hosting the shower with my DIL. Well, she showed up at 11;30PM last night. We were supposed to go over to DIL to help make the food, wrap gifts etc. She announced that SHE wasn't going over there- she was tired. Now the kicker is that DH and I had a wedding last night - we ate and ran - expecting my sister to be here waiting for us. She of course forgot to turn on her cell phone, so I had no idea where she was. I cannot tell you how frustrating SHE is!! Was supposed to get the silverware and wrap it (NOT), supposed to get thank you notes (NOT), supposed to get game gifts (NOT) Believe you me, she got a real cold reception when I heard of all the things she DIDN'T do!! Give me the grace to get beyond this, please...She likes to sleep in, so guess who is running out to the store....and going to the strawberry patch to pick berries for the fruit salad. Enough of this..everything will turn out fine= just needed to vent so I don't swear at her....(no wonder she was let go from her job LOL)
M5 - I like your attitude-
Sarv...you're only helping her my NOT waking her up and make her join you....it's called an enabler situation...she know that you know and you are not going to do anything about it....she's free and clear.....nice deal for her!!
Off to Chicago. hope all goes well in the end.....
Love and kisses..
Hap
Have a Safe and Wonderful trip, Hap!
Sarv, keep that lip buttoned up so it doesn't cause even more of a rift! (Which means vent here all you want!)
Sometimes I'm glad I was an only child! LOL
Stay in touch Hap. We know PP has a 'puter.
Darius, still having to wear "long-johns"? *grin*
Pati
Good morning. A new day! Sun is shining through the clouds and everything looks sparkly because we had a rain shower last evening (and maybe more overnight). I won't have to water the vegie garden today. Everything is planted and some of it is coming up. Yesterday we had just the right combination of rain and sun. Of course I had just finished watering everything shortly before the shower came, then the sun warmed everything up and I went riding for a couple of hours, then did some weeding in the flowers in the evening.
Sarv, I agree with Hap that letting your sister sleep and doing the work yourself is being an enabler. You need to vent and this is a better place than at your sister, but you need to make her accountable in the future or not agree to co-host things with her. Tough love.
Riding is the first thing on my list today. I'm going to my friend's place and ride with her so I get to see new places today. I hope my horse behaves herself. She is the one who gets out from under me sometimes and so I don't ride her alone. It's always nice to have somebody know where I am if the horse goes the other way. I'm going early so we can ride before the forecasted thunder storms come through.
Have a great day everybody. Count your blessings.
Shower is over and it was a roaring success!!! Food was outstanding (even if I did forget to take the fruit salad out of the frig - now more for leftovers!!) DIL made the most delish fruit sala - I've make some and leave it out for ya..
I know I am an enabler, but I hate family strife - I would rather suck it in myself (and complain here- sorry gals..) and just do it myself.. Depending on others has always been something that has turned out disappointingly. example... Asked my sister to help wash the wine glasses and she promptly broke two (now understand why I would rather do it myself LOL) My sister really is a dear, just low on the 'helping out' part of it, but let me tell ya, she far exceeds me in the entertainment section. She is always telling stories and making everyone laugh, so that is important too. Guess we all have our places in this world..
Sure doesn;t seem like father's day here (both our fathers are gone, just have a dear step father) He came out last night- today he is going to his 12 other children's house for a get together!! DH is all a ga ga over father's day. He kept talking about it all evening. I think he is expecting a great big party = I've got nothing planned!!! Kids will stop over and I need to rush out and get some more food (my food bill will top 300 this week...) My sister and I want to sneak off to the antique mall - she is leaving tomorrow and we need to spend some fun time shopping.
Sure missed being in the garden tho - but did manage to take two strolls thru them for mental health reasons!! My gardener neighbor knew how stressed I've been and showed up last night with a huge bowl of fragrant roses for me - what a wonderful friend.
Up at 5:21am this morning....anyone ever try melatonin for sleeping???
Good Morning everyone...
Sarv, I'm glad the shower went well in spite of the 'bobble' that took place counting on your sister to do part of the work.
Mary, I've been thinking about you over these past few days. The regional rodeo was held in the next town over this weekend and because of it there were lots of riders coming past our house. We usually see several groups a year but this year there have been more. I really had to laugh at two lady riders. As they went by they were talking about how, because they're women, there's always someone trying to help them 'load up'. After hearing about all the things *you* do...I really had to smile. I *knew* these ladies were more than capable of handling their horses. ;-)
DH finished the fountain yesterday...and late in the afternoon *he* could wait no longer to see how it worked. OOoooooh! It's *perfect*! I could have sat there all night just listening to the water dance. (Gee, it's Father's Day...and *I* got the present! LOL That's *very* unusual here!)
I got my herb transplants into the ground and managed to get two beds weeded before I couldn't take working in the heat. I think my knee mat and weeding tool are still sitting in the last bed I weeded. (At least I'll know where to find them when I head back out. hehehe)
I'm going to go download the pics of the fountain I took last night. If any of them turned out I'll post one or two.
Have a great day...and take care!
~julie~
Sarv, glad it all went well. BTW, the Foxfire link on the DG Home Page now says "DG works best with Firefox". Plus, both Dave and I both checked the link.... it's still free and Dave says it always will be.
Congrats on the new fountain, Julie!
Hi all!
Darius - I still wear bathing suits - but only in front of my family. People at work who have pools keep offering pool parties, until we all realize - do we really want to see each other in our swimsuits? YIKES! The invites usually get dropped really fast - LOL!
Had a busy weekend. Nephew came Fri night with his two kids (8 and 5) - and his girlfriend (she stayed at a hotel). We ran around with them all weekend - and now I'm worn out. Was hoping to get out and plant some things today (FINALLY found the lantana I wanted!) - but, too tired, back hurts and allergies are really bad. We need some RAIN!
No other news for now.....just checking in. Glad everyone's doing well!
M.
Glad to hear the shower was a success. Next time your sister is supposed to contribute to the labor, Sarv, just don't do her part. No confrontation. No argument, it just becomes something undone. She'll snap to in a hurry, if she realizes you aren't going to pick up the slack. A little gentle nudge wouldn't hurt, as in "When are you going to wrap the tableware, hon?" etc. Julie's right, no point getting in her face when benign neglect will do the job.
Nice and sunny here, and warmer than yesterday. We were up late, and I crawled back under the covers for a nice snooze, and now my to-do list is a day behind. LOL Like I care!
Hobbes' vet visit labs came back. He's in the early stages of renal failure, so he'll have to be on a special diet. If his appetite slackens, vet suggested Pepcid, a quarter tablet but so far he's eating well. Oskar goes in next and I dread the report. Part of the contract of owning pets, since they rely on you. Wish I could make up the food for him myself, but it's not possible to make low protein at home. He's my best boy, and I'm not looking forward to the next few months and I'm pretty sure it's his kidneys too.
We need rain, we've had to water pretty well the past couple of days, to keep the new plants healthy. I'm sure we'll get it on Thursday or Friday, being that I golf both days. No news worth adding to this, just wanted to say hello and pass the fruit salad....!!
Sheila
Hi Y'all,
Just got back in and am feeling totally stuffed. The grandchildren - agea 2 and 4, took Daddy and Grandaddy to lunch at IHOP.( With the help of DIL and I). I don't normally have more than fruit and juice for lunch, but they had Funnel Cake, so I couldn't resist and now I feel bloated - serves me right!
We have peace and quiet for the next couple of hours while the little one went home to nap, but they 'promised' they will be back later to play with grandad in the pool. I'm not sure grandad is over impressed - he's napping too right now!
Glad to hear the 'do' went well. You will just have to learn to leave undone the bits others don't do though. You won't have to do it more than once you know. When someone comments you just say 'isn't it done? Oh well ' ....' is doing that, you better tell her/him' and move on to something else. Try it - get tough save yourself the stress!!

Glad the shower went so well! The salads sound yummy - gonna have to sample some.
Stopped at a garage sale after work the other day. They were still setting up but let me browse. The lady's daughter was a book nut - boxes of them - hard and soft covers. Lots of John Grisham hard covers but I only took one since I have all the rest in soft cover already. Rats! Would have loved to get them but can't see the sense of having 2 copies. Must had every Nora Roberts book published - 3 or 4 boxes of them!
Walking out to the van, I spotted a fountain. Ended up buying it for $25. I'm thrilled with it - DGD loves the frogs. Here's a pic...
Also had two test surveys this week at work - 85% on first one, 88% on second one. Very happy with them!
Laura... good job on the fountain for $25! But, an Extra Good Job on your tests!!!
