Curly Bamboo?

Does anyone have any info on Curly Bamboo? I am not at all familiar with it and wonder if it really exists

Yes, I have seen what they call Curly bamboo at a couple of flower shows. I think it is regular bamboo trained to go around other straight stalks. It was sold either single stalks, ranging from 4" to about a foot, and starting a $2.00 for the shortest stalk. It looks pretty good if there are some straight stalks for it to train on. I bought a short piece just for the heck of it. They had it sitting in vases of water and it has a few roots but was told not to plant it in soil???? Has a couple of shoots of leaves on it sort of like a Dracenea. Mine does look a little lonely but I'm cheap.

Is that the same thing as what they call "Lucky Bamboo"?

Hummmmm - don't know.

Yes, yes, and it is not Bamboo at all! It is Dracaena sanderana. Surprise! I know, cause I got into a big online tussle, without all my facts!

They train it to grow around forms. That is what causes the 'curly' part. Mine seems to be a very slow grower, so I can understand the $7 a pop at the local yearly fair. Since it is not such a novelty now, prices are coming down to a reasonable rate.

Can be grown in water strictly, or in soil. Both seem to be doing fine at my house. I have varigated and all-green. Trust me, for those who are dying to try, it is not that exciting of a plant. Mine are chugging along, but nothing spectacular.
