I probably would have been rolling in the grass with laughter if it happened to me. Beats the smash & grabs that happen with school is out and kids are allowed out all night.

At first I wasn't going to post the adventures of our local teens...........But, It all started when a group of teens went through the neighborhood crashing into front doors/screens. Just about tore the door from the frames..They did this with their bodies raming the doors and running away (such fun) myself along with several neighbors called the police, The kids that did this were found, went to court with the parents and were told to make restitution for damages...haven't seen a penny. Parents are worse than the kids. Than our mail box was ripped out 4x4 post and all ,we found it down the street. Than the post light was beat to he--, $90.00 to replace, than during the night the mail box a large bush that surrounded it were run into by a car and dragged right out of the ground,than our trash pails ..trash and all were stolen,Than Oh what the heck you get the idea.......each time the police were called and each time no one could prove which kids did it...they are not even from the neighborhood...The kids run wild...And to top it all off...I live in a quiet sub..The kids come from other areas to do there deeds and think they had a great time..What do you do????? we installed censors hooked to our PC to take picture's of any movement during the night at the front of the house..That way we have a picture of the little "darlings" that never do any wrong. Nothing yet but sooner of later they will become bored and start again.. I am the mother of 2... stepmom of 3 more and raised a friends twins when she became ill. I never went through this problem with those kids. I also think when it was made clear that our hands were tied and they could report parents for a smake they took over in many cases..I spanked when it was needed, and gave time outs when that was needed.I don't believe in beating kids..but there comes a time when you need to get their attention. Some have gone just to far..They need to be stopped.. Before they go to far and it can't be undone. Sorry It just makes me so mad that kids are getting away with so much MEAN stuff and laughing at us.
.In Houston they can get away with anything until they kill someone. Then it's serious. A stitch in time is needed.
It's been very quite here since I caught several boys down by the Bayou chopping up my pumping system. The parents offered to pay but I told them, this time I pay so I won't forget. Next time you won't forget. It cost me about $150 to fix, but not a single problem since, except for the stop signs. Many people are using steel reinforcing for mailboxes. No bashed mailboxes either lately.
My word. You know, it's threads like this one and Kell's encounter with vandals last year, that make me realize that despite some minor inconveniences, I will be forever grateful that we do not have that kinda stuff going on in my small town in rural, southeast Arky...
It can happen anywhere. Kids with nothing better to do will do something. Push the limits.

cinnabor - what kind of camera system did you install? Can you actually see anything at night? I've been kicking this around for awhile and 'almost' decided to try that X10 system but I'd hate to invest only to find out it's worthless unless it's broad daylight and you stick your face right in the camera.
I really don't know much about it...The light comes on at the same time as the camera's. It is started by the motion sensor. So if they are near enough to activate my sensor...they are on camera and it has enough light to produce good pictures..The police have been informed that I will press charges on any and all now,, I'm feed up. They are bored and I have to pay and go through the work no more..If they are so darn bored take up some thing constructive with that time. People are raising future criminals.Now if they want to act like them they should pay like them..............
