CLOSED: Leftover dahlia tubers for trade

Monroe, NC(Zone 7b)

I have some leftover dahlia tubers for trade or postage. They are starting to get a little old looking and I am not motivated enough to check if they all have eyes, so set your expectation sort of low on the quality of these tubers. However I do think most will all grow fine...so here is the list. You have to take at least 6 so I am not shipping so much.

Sounds great, I'll send you a DMail.

N., CA(Zone 9a)

Robin, darn! Wish I'da known about the Dahlias before you sent me out the Daffodil bulbs! They could have flown together. Well, that's ok. I'm sure they'll find good homes!

Monroe, NC(Zone 7b)

Well Larry....Sue got the one I had for trade already...but since your name is Larry, I'll go find another one for you. Don't you think it might be a little toasty down in Foley Alabama for dahlias?

Foley, AL

am I thinking of the right plant? the ones northerners have to dig up every year? there hardy to zone 9? I looked it up real quick we have a dahlia society in alabama so they must grow here?

If you are into a lightning trade read on...

I leave on vacation in a week, we would both have to ship priority on Monday. I have a Clematis "Polish Spirit" small, but a rooted two year old, and or many too many columbine. I love dahlias, they have to be dug here (ick) and last year all mine (so many more than i'll admit to) froze in the ground because my daughter was extremely ill and i didn't get to them. So this year i have one, sad tuber i bought at a home improvement center. I have been dreading the late summer when they are my major colour.

Let me know if you are interested, i'll package up tomorrow.

Melissa

edited to say, i have some iris too, if your interested, i'll send you a list.

Ok Melissa. I'll ship on Monday. Which six do you want? Trade for the Clematis sounds great. I actually have a trellis with no plant because I recently ripped out an uncooperative rose. (should have traded him off too!) Which six.

Larry...cool with me to trade to Alabama. I'll send six. Which 5 would you like in addidtion to Mr. Larry. Dahlias actually like the summer weather to be a bit cool. That is why they grow so well in the PNW> Sue is in the perfect place. But, I live in NC where it is stinkin hot and I can grow them. You just have to protect them from the late (hot) afternoon sun and make sure they get plenty of water. Choose your location carefuly. If they get cooked by the afternoon sun they will quite blooming.

Foley, AL

you pic... I don't know there color

Monroe, NC(Zone 7b)

Come on Rachel....don't you want a few? I don't mind sending you another package. You wouldn't leave these poor defenseless dahlias with no home would you?

Monroe, NC(Zone 7b)

OK. I'll pick you some good ones. How about Show N Tell, Plum Pretty, Mr. Larry, Skywalker, and Dixie Winedot. All those are very pretty.

High Desert, NV(Zone 5a)

I am only familiar with Show n Tell. I like the cactus, lotus and especially the fibrillated type. I am not a fan of the ball type and the little ones don't seem to be fond of me. So i will leave it up to you to pick.

They bake their brains out here, and seem happy to do it. I do water them very well. It must be a zone thing.

Please send me whatever you think a good assortment would be. I'm new at dahlias and excited to give them a try. Our spring has been so wet and cold here, it's probably good I haven't started eariler this year.

I appreciate your generosity.
