Delostoma rosea

Spring Valley, CA(Zone 10a)

A tree native to Ecuador. These trees do fine in San Diego. My little five-footer has been blooming for the last month.

Wow, that's gorgeous. I've never seen one before.

Lovely flowers! I've never seen one either. It would probably crinkle in our zone 9 weather.

hiya RWhiz,

Is it Bignoniaceae? It's really lovely.

How does one go about acquiring seed for this puppy?

Spring Valley, CA(Zone 10a)

Well Chuck,

I got my little tree from a guy here in San Diego who started who started his seedlings from seeds from a tree at Quail Gardens in Encinitas. I'm not too sure you can find them in the general nursery trade.

They are not available from the usual sources, any of the Delostoma. South American seeds are much harder to comeby than African or Australian. B & T and Sandemann have some but not that many. Hafta go by Quail again and see if any seeds are available.
