Look at this poor thing. I found this outside this morning tipped over on its side practically hidden behind a bunch of annuals in pots I haven't gotton around to planting yet. The id tag fell off so now I can't be sure what it is...but I THINK it is a butterfly cutting I rooted after the mother plant got a bad case of mites this winter and I thought I might loose her. But I haven't even looked at this for at least 5-6 weeks. Poor thing..but she sure has a will to live, huh? Look at that enormous bud on a plant maybe 4.5-5" tall. If it is butterfly - should the bud look so yellow on the end? of course the leaves look jaundiced too because it is so rootbound and suffering from neglect. tsk. BAD brug mommy!
I tried to make amends and potted her up tonight in a 1 gallon pot and we'll see what happens when that bud opens. Anybody wanna wage a guess on her identity?

Another surprise despite neglect
Aren't they determined to live!!!
Not a clue about Identity...but I do recognize it as a Brugmansia! lol

now that just boggles the mind... it'll be interesting to see what you get out of it. Must be good stock, you probably want to baby that one!!
It always amazes me when something like this happens. We baby, cajole, feed and worry over our gardens and still something falls thru the cracks and survives. Sometimes I wonder if I paid a little less attention if some things would do better?

I know that applies to me... I've killed more things with kindness than I'm allowed to admit. :)
Haven't we all.......killed things with kindness, somethings are better left alone.
Whatever it is, it's a strong one with the will to live. Nice bud. Keep us posted.
How cool is that!
I'm with you 8ftbed I kill more flowers with to much love. Trying everything out on them, and all they want is to be left along.
Diane besure to post a picture when she opens up.
Brugs are so amazing. They really are resilient.
Lots of my pinks start yellow, Diane. Please post a pic when it opens!
Diane,
Ain't that life!!! Those that get little help, find a way to do it on their own.
Thanks for posting.

Here's a closeup -- ain't she beautiful! And the scent - to DIE for. So will her color change over the next few days. I've only seen one Butterfly bloom in person - that was on her mother when she arrived from the person I bought her from. She came out of the box with the deepest coral pink color I have ever seen! She is now my special favorite!
The mother plant is doing very well also...but this baby has earned my respect for fortitude! I will give her the best of care from her on out (yeah, now watch I'll kill her....)
She is beautiful, Diane. Just lovely. I hope she turns dark for you. She can get somewhat dark for me here. Is it hot and humid where you are? That helps.
