The African Tulip trees are starting to bloom now. You can't tell, but this one behind the garage is abundant with bud clusters. In a few weeks it should really be looking great. My other one has better colored blooms but is smaller and I don't see much in the way of buds yet. I started this one from a one-foot cutting and the first two years it grew at the rate of six feet a year. Fast grower.

Spathodeas are blooming!
Oh man, I'm a huge fan of Spathodea campanulata. Have you seen the Yellow one at Swami's? I think that Balboa Park also has some yellows. Haven't seen too many in private collections though. Do your oranges produce fertile seed?
Thanks for sharing I miss seeing those beauties doing their thing all summer. You've got a killer collection.
best,
Don
Ok, if you notice in the first pic at the bottom, there is the roof of a shed built next to the back of the garage. Well, anyway--I had to crawl on top of the shed to take these two pics. The tree is starting to burst out in clusters of these things. The very biggest cluster is right at the top--but I couldn't get a shot of it. These will have to do.

LOL. Gee whiz, will this have to do? Fabulous. Those of us below zone 10 don't get to see these. Thanks for sharing.
So, it looks like it gets to be a pretty big tree. I see that seed is available for both the regular and yellow form from B &T. No plant file though. It would probably grow here, but would be too big for my garden.
