I wish I could share the fragrance! I walked outside to feed the bunnies and look what I was greeted with! This is one of two huge whites that decided to bloom, and the Yellows are starting too. These are taller than my house!
Oh I love my brugs!
Look What Happened At My House Today!
All i can say is WOW.
Do yours overwinter outside?
Yes, the one above is in a pot that it took over, busted out of and grew into the ground. I wasn't able to move it in so it just stayed there.
Here is another white next to the utility room door. It's directly in the ground, not in a pot. I swore it wasn't going to take over the sidewalk this year, oh but when I see the buds I can't snip.
any idea which one that is? i dont think i've seen trendils that long on a yellow before.
maybe we can trade something?
beautiful brugs, do you feed them?
All I can say is WOW....how beautiful, I am so jealous.
Cindy
I haven't a clue what my white or yellow (deep gold) or even the pink that I have are named. If anyone wants to identify them I would love to know.
I was driving down the street to my house one day and got whiplash seeing a yellow one blooming. Stopped by the house and banged on the door saying I have to know what it is and where you got it. He told me it was an Angel Trumpet and said he had some rooting and he would call me when he was ready to sell them. I REALLY wanted one and couldn't believe when he actually called. And, yes, fellow brugaholics as you all personally know, the rest is history. I have lots of them and they couldn't make me happier, I need to get him to come see what he started.
And of course I would love to share (trade). Wondering if I can find a 10' long box or maybe cut you a shorter one, lol.
I had offered anyone in my area a tree size cutting if they wanted to come by and so far, no takers.
Here is a picture of the yellow last year.
Oh, do I feed them? Thanks for reminding me, I forgot I was going out to feed the bunnies when I got so excited about the brugs. LOL
Yes, all my plants love rabbit manure. Every year I clean the barn out several times and spread it in all of my flowerbeds. The ones next to the barn are in heaven. They get it 24/7.
If you don't have a rabbit breeder friend, you need to get one!
You can grow plants directly in the manure and it never burns. Who needs dirt when you have rabbits, the worms love it too.
Here is a photo of the ones next to the barn..now, remember, it was about noon when I took the photo and we were close to 100 degrees today and they are in full sun. I was out watering and decided to grab a picture so they are a little droopy, but they perk up as soon as the sun moves a little.
Oh, darn, I forgot the bunnies.....gotta go feed my little manure makers.
Be back in a bit.......
Wow...the brug that ate Houston!!!!
too funny that you forgot to feed the bunnies!!
i love the widdle pot next to it. kinda reminds of the story "the little engine that could" or something like that, lol
Absolutely beautiful! No wonder you love them!! Appears they love rabbit poo too! ~ Suzi :)
Can't say much beyond "WOW!" I've gotta get me some wabbits!
brugie,
i'm with you, gotta get the wabbits, lol. Would save on osmocote too, lol
My daughter is getting my GD who is turning 7 next week a rabbit for her birthday. I already offered to take the droppings! I told her how good they were for plants & she still said that I was welcome to them...
Great going buns!!! My plants and blooms are all babies next to yours!
Margie
Great looking Brugs, Buns
LOL. We will all be scouring out neighborhoods looking for rabbit keepers. Your brugs are so great Buns, so floriferous!
Buns, I really like them and the more I say anything about them, the 7 y/o wants the bunny to supply the brugs! ~ Suzi :)
Oh my, it would appear that the combination of Houston and Rabbit Fertilizer is the perfect enviroment for Brugs. They look nearly as happy as you sound, Buns. WTG!
Buns, they are beyond belief, just HUGE. Was this year their first to winter outside?? Did they 'die back' or do they stay green and flower all year round?? They are just beautiful, congrats, very nice gardening!!!
I'm thinking this was their third or fourth winter in the ground. The ones that are next to the barn freeze back but as you can see, come back with a vengence. I make as many cuttngs as I can and give them away, put them in rabbit raffles, etc. and the rest that freeze I just cut back the dead part and they come back.
I have been trying to make container trees and the more that I look at all those pots I'll have to drag in for the winter the more I am thinking about plopping them in the ground. Also, that flush is what I love. Maybe I'll just plant them and make them trees (instead of bushes) in the ground. Might be a nice back saving compromise. Good thing we own the lot next door too, I have gone crazy getting them this year.
I am sure if you were serious about finding some rabbit poo for your gardens Dick or Glen or any of the ladies at http://ARBA.net/ would be happy to get you names of rabbit breeders near you or give me a city and I'll try to find you one. Rabbit breeders love folks to come get their rabbit poo if they aren't using it in their gardens, just take a shovel and container to put it in. It's great in vegetable gardens too. I usually do my vegetable gardening and baking at grocery stores and use my gardens to grow flowers instead of vegetables.
Picturelady I think I have a friend in San Jose who raises rabbits, well, I think she is near Corralitos, a really nice lady, really cute little lop earred ones and you never know, she might have a pet looking for a home.
Here is a photo thru the white flush looking at my pink that is about to bloom. If you look closely, you can see the top of a 6' fence. This is my walking pink and the front part is coming down. I have offered some tree size cuttings if anyone in this area is interested in coming by to get them.
Buns, all your brugs are amazing! I better get lots of Y's and blooms this year!!! I also need to find me some bunny poo! The bunnies in the neighbourhood leave their present but not enough. Do you know of anyone in my area, Buns? You all are making me jealous!
:) Donna
Gotta get me some bunnypoo!
(Wish doggie poo would do the trick; we have much of that!)
Super pictures!
Buns,
I am going to hold you toatlly responsible if I get an acquired desire for brugs!!! LOL They look great!!! If you feel like trimming and sending, I could supply the postage... just a thought! ~ Suzi :)
