Can anyone acurately ID this vine for me?

Augusta, WV(Zone 5b)

I obtained seeds that were supposed to be a Hawaiian Woodrose vine, can anyone tell me if the vine in this photo is just that? How about the scientific name for the plant? (I might be asking too much now :) Thank you all for your help.

Looks like you have what you ordered to me. I would love to trade a couple of these vines for 2 rooted cuttings of my Lavender Lady. I was planning on putting some to root tomorrow.

Hey Flicker thanks for the opinion. I had this growing like crazy in my greenhouse last year and it never bloomed so in the winter I cut it way back and brought it indoors and barely kept it alive. I then put it back in my greenhouse in the spring and now it looks happy there :) Some blooms are starting and I PRAY I'll get some seeds from this baby. The blooms look smaller than in the photos I've seen therefore the reason I wasn't sure. About the swap, I'd love to trade you for a shoot off your Lavender Lady Passiflora vine, but I only have this one vine right now??? If I get seeds maybe I can send you some, but if it sends up a runner (which I don't think these vines do) I can send you one of them instead, but I think seeds would be the thing. What's your thoughts? Thanks, Dennis

the seeds for the hawian wood rose are black and somewhat fuzzy and bigger then regular seeds.

you vine doesnt look like mine does. and i have been growing them for years.

the sure fire way to tell is as follows. when it blooms it will look like a big yellow morning glory bloom. then as it dies off it will form a wooden sort of rose thing that usually conatins 4 seeds. all of which are in the hyperlink.

my hubby says mine looks like a marijanna plant but in vine shape. he jokes all the time about this vine but loves the blooms.

heres a hyperlink with a close up of the leaves. rylaff posted close up down torward the bottom http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/437195/

Okay I know everyone said this is a woodrose or baby woodrose and I didn't have a bloom before now so here is a photo with it blooming now, can anyone give me the proper name for this for example is it a Merremia variety or a Argyreia variety or an Ipomoea variety? Please can anyone help me out with the scientific name? Thanks for the help......oh and btw seeds are being collected as I type :)

Thanks for your reply Laurrie and yeah that sure does look like my vine in those photos you sent. The flowers in that picture look much larger than mine, but I think it is it. My flowers are almost the size of a quarter.....but the other photo looks larger.....probably the way the picture was taken because the color and the foliage are right. Thank you so much......yeah this was a left over vine from last year that never bloomed. I cut it back and kept it in the house over the winter and then in spring I put it back in the greenhouse and that made it very happy :) I have it growing in a 2 gallon container that needs to be watered "every day" so I am pretty much a plant slave right now, lol. Will hopefully have enough seeds to offer pretty soon.......will keep in touch with you because you've always been generous. Have a great 4th!!!! God bless.....

Glad to help in any way I can Dennis, and I know what you mean, sometimes those first blooms are rather small compared to the later ones.

I grow most of my glories in 5 gal containers but still am a slave waterer as well, but it's a joy to see them finally bloom.

I am still repairing and finding things from the flood, I find most everyday something new blooming "somewhere" that it shouldn't be LOL

Say howdy to Christy for me, it's been awhile!!!! And both of you have a great 4th too!!

Hi Ron,
That was going to my guess too. Looks like my wrightii

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

Looks EXACTLY like my wrightii also.

Actually, I believe there was some confusion at some point with Dennis calling this I. cairica, when it is clearly I. wrightii.
The I. wrightii seeds come out of their pods with 'silky-cotten' strings.

Yep the silky strings took me by surprise the first time I saw them. LOL
