Hi Guys, when I linked to Logee's, I noticed that they have a red one called Epiphyllum ackermannii: http://www.logees.com/prodinfo.asp?number=S7505-2 which I also noticed has a angled stem. Logee's says that this species has been used extensively to make hybrids. I'll have to do some research on this species. It sounds like we might have hybrids of this species.
Candy, that red is just lovely.
The Epis Are Here, The Epis Are Here!! 2005 PART FIVE
Clare, that's what my red epi is. http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/60332/index.html
Candy,
I have to make a correction here... the red sails cutting is probably a Ruth Wallace cutting.. Ruth Wallace just bloomed and it looks just like Red Sails. I am wondering if the names got mixed up. Will post a photo of Ruth Wallace, have not been able to load them up to the computer yet.
Still have company..
Posted a link with a photo of Ruth Wallace... gosh, I posted it on the wrong forum.. I feel a little dumb..

Beautiful, Rusty!
Darius, that is really interesting. I saw your pictures when doing a search, but your stems look so long and flat and narrow. Is this common for the species? I thought that the species had triangular stems, but maybe that is not right. Your flowers are beautiful.
Hey, guys, we got our own forum! Yay! Candy, should we continue this in our new forum? Can these threads be moved without a lot of trouble? I suppose we can always have a first post which links to them so everyone can see all the pictures and read the good growing information posted in these many threads.
Thanks for those pictures, Darius. Very interesting! I think you i.d.'d it correctly. It sure does look different than other epi hybrids, doesn't it? I love all the hairy spines too and the different shapes to the leaves.
I'm beginning to like it, finally. I "rescued" it from a garage sale several years ago when it was in a 4" pot, not resembling an Epi at all, just small round and triangular stems. I always threatened to throw it out but I find that hard to do with any living thing. Fall of 2003 was the first time it bloomed and I knew for sure it was an Epi.
For anyone who has not heard the news yet, we now have our own Orchid Cactus Forum!! http://davesgarden.com/forums/f/episetc/
I'm glad you held on to it, Darius. I'm the same way with plants. It's a keeper.
It's pretty! Post it in cactus and succulents for an ID?
Thank you, I'll do that, just wanted to share here, ok, show off! I promise I won't do it again!
That IS pretty :-)
weegy, I wasn't implying that you shouldn't show off your lovely flower to your friends on this forum, but merely that you might get a better/quicker ID on the cactus & succulents forum.
Very pretty, Weegy. I agree that you will have better luck getting it identified over at the Cactus and Succulents forum or the Identification Forum.
Darius, I know you weren't implying anything. I know you were trying to help. Thanks a bunch.
: )
That last picture could be
White Knight. ex Johnson's or Paramounts's hybrid. ? ? ? ?? / Norma

Thanks!
I've changed the name in my prior posts......by any name I still think this is probably the prettiest Epi I've seen. :-)
Bump:-)
