They need to be kept moist. Or maybe just too much rain, if you have had a ton of rain down there.
Maybe dig them up to see what is going on. Thinking of varmints.

they've had plenty of moisture, but not alot of rain, I water them frequently. guess, I'll dig them and see what's going on.
